I have just received, not one but TWO ACSI books and cards for 2010. I can only assume I absent mindedly pre-ordered twice on separate occassions.

Anyway, anyone interested in my spare one?

How about donating the spare copy to the Christmas Auction  This generous gesture to a couple of good causes will make you feel all warm and gooey inside, giving is such a wonderful pleasure. :thumb:

No pressure though:winky:

Hi, i have recieved a second copy this morning.Just had an email telling me to put it back in the post with return to sender on it. vicarious books say they know who they have mistakenly sent two copies to

Same here. The most offensive email I've ever received:

Dear Customer

We have discovered today that we accidently posted your ACSI CampingCard
order twice. This is not a Christmas present from Vicarious Books; we are
not that generous. We posted the second order yesterday (7th December
2009) so you may not have received it yet.
We would like to thank the many people that have already contacted us to
arrange returns.

POST IT BACK FOR FREE.
Please follow these instructions carefully.
1) Do not open envelope (if opened, fill in the returns sheet and Selotape
closed).
2) Put two diagonal lines across your address. (Vital that name and
address is legible).
3) Write “return to sender” on the front of the envelope.
4) Post it in a Post Box (even if abroad). Do not take it to a Post
Office, they may charge.

Unfortunately we sent quite a large batch of orders twice, but know
exactly who to. We also know that most of you will deal with this straight
away.

The goods are the property of Vicarious Books. Should you not return the
goods within 14 days it will be assumed that you wish to keep the goods
and have granted permissions for Vicarious Books to recover the value of
goods.

We are grateful for your cooperation.

Directors Chris Doree and Meli George.

ohh dear, I've always found Vicarious books good to deal with
in the past
obviously keen to get the message out and presumably failed to consider how it looked to the recipient

not pleasant at all

I'm pretty certain NO.

I think that it would be classed as unsolicited goods and our obligation is just to keep them safe until collected. I suspect we could charge storage and a service charge for handing them over.

But our goes back tomorrow.

presume that the reason they've come out so quickly with 'how to return' details is to get round unsolicited goods - not sure about legitimacy of return to sender bit though

Dave

camping discount card is a separate charge - but if you use the book that comes with it you can ensure that you are fully aware of which sites give the discounts - and for what period

aires - have heard good reports about the books as published - in English - by Vicarious
we've only ever used the French original - bought in France generally

have fun

ps - can get data on dvd and usb as well

I was thinking in terms of an overflowing cassette too close to the air conditioning.

How different it could have been.

"Hey customer, we've really screwed up and we are in deep trouble. Could you please return your extra ACSI as soon as possible, just cross the name out..........."

Now that shows they know you have an extra one. And it's getting the punter on their side.

I wonder if they are bluffing and they don't know which ones were duplicated.

It could be a serious blow to them, it could be a thousand, it could be more, and that's a thousand customers no being serviced - double wammy.

So whats all the fuss about?

According to some, you are paying for the discount card....the book is free. So just send 'em the discount card back and keep your 'free' book.

I'd be very interested to know the response you get. :ROFLMAO:

Some Grumpy Old Men believe in working for their reputation. I don't like the implication that I would keep the book without a threat to return it.

A couple of months ago I ordered an RC helicopter. They delivered a more expensive package. I emailed them and got a phone call on the lines of "I don't believe you told us, thank you".

You know, I'm beginning to think I'm too nice.

Oh blow it, it's too much trouble to open the jiffy bag and superglue all the pages together.

I buy from them simply cos it is convenient
In my three dealings with the company by phone I found their attitude rude and quite frankly insulting
Specifically a yound woman ( sounds early 20's ? ) who REALLY thinks she is doing the whole world a favour by selling you stuff !!

Apart from the ACSI book and card I would not spend another penny with them...

Don't bother with the book which has the card in. Go for the DVD which is far better value and more use.

oh no not again
2 totally different things

"The ACSI Camping Card has 1300 more participating campsites across Europe than Camping Cheque or other discount camping schemes. With the CampingCard ASIS discount scheme there is no upfront outlay for more expensive camping or freedom cheques that may not be used. The ACSI 2010 Campsite DVD has 8700 camp grounds listed. ACSI inspect all 8700 campsites annually, but only 1891 of these campsites are in the Camping Card guide book, so not all campsites that have an ACSI sticker in reception are in the discount camping scheme. The ACSI campsite DVD is a computer database and the level of detail far greater than is found in any campsite book."

I have just received the offensive e-mail from Vacarious books. As yet we have not received any books here in Spain. I have replied to their e-mail informing them that any further debits from my credit card are unauthorized and therefore an offence. The method of postal return is fraught with danger through the Spanish and Royal Mail postal systems without payment, and also at this time of year. This is supposing that any arrive in the first place. The mistake is theirs and theirs alone. The e-mail is a sure way to alienate any existing and future customers.:Angry:

Excellent - I have just sent this:
===================================
This is one of the most offensive emails that I have ever received.

If you send out unsolicited goods the only obligation on the part of the recipient is to keep them safe until such time as the sender collects them. To assume that we are all going to steal them is the height of ignorance. There is already backlash gathering across the internet. Your crass behavior is the talk of the forums.

Nontheless, your book will be posted on Wednesday exactly as instructed. Had you not sent this offensive email I would have paid postage on it to ensure it's safe return, now I care not if you get it back, I have acted on your instructions.

Ahh Nefarious, sorry vicarious Books. I bought one of their guides and it fell apart, trying to get a replacement was ridiculous. I spoke to a man and a woman at different times and they were both VERY rude. Like it was my fault that the book disintegrated, even though I subsequently discovered that others had the same problem with the same book "All the Aires" I never did get my refund, evidently I had missed the window that they were taking returns  I do not reccomend Vicarious, they are as rude on the phone as they are in that email.

Any plonker can see they are 'two different things'.

One is a DVD........the other is a book.

As I have had both the book and the DVD, I feel I am more than qualified to pass an opinion on both items.
If you find that 'confusing'....tough.
