There is a car park not far from where I work with the sign "No overnight sleeping"

OK, but how would they know?

4am, knock, knock: "excuse me Sir, but were you sleeping in your motorhome"?

"No, as you can see".

"That's alright then Sir".

Is it alright to stay there overnight as long as you stay awake?

:ROFLMAO:

Rather than saying something like "I would be grateful for your opinion on the legal status of local authority imposed parking restrictions as described" (lifted from thread in link) I should say to the council "Please provide details of the legal powers on which the parking restrictions are based, including copy(s) of the TRO(s)".

Where councils do differentiate properly between inhabiting the vehicle overnight and pure parking their TROs are written to make them enforceable. Pure "parking" will probably be defined to allow empty vehicles only, which makes enforcement possible.

In all my years of living in a van/motorhome/camper (wildcamping) I have never found it necessary to stay overnight anywhere where it says anything like "No overnight camping" etc.
