Everyman needs a shed or garage (1 Viewer)

I've been looking at motorhomes with garages,some of them are as big as sheds or even garages. The more reasonably sized ones can take bicycles,scooters or motorbikes,even dogs!!
Apart from these machines how do people arrange storage and what do they put in them,apart from the aformentioned vehicles.
any ides on storage solutions or racking etc.

We havn't got a garage-model yet, (next year we hope) but i've been having a think-up about how to pack the garage.
We're going to fit two plastic pipes to the ceiling, one for a wind-break and the other for the awning-mat. That'll help clear some floorspace.
I'm also going to fit something to the door for the hook-up cable and the ramps one side and my water hoses on the other.
Then i've got to fit an outboard bracket for a small motor and some sort of compartments for the loo chemicals, two-stroke oil, petrol can, scuba tanks etc etc.
That should keep me occupied for a while!!!

when i;m not carrying a scoot, i have a false floor in my garage fit my awning under there my poles, windbreaks, trolley,mop,motorhome cleanig brush,folding chairs, beer,cans of food for on the continent,wax polish, trolley for going to the supermarket, tripod for my sat dish amd still room to store buys.
the false floor leaves a flat platform for other things, washing machine, 2 folding bikes,
3 3 plastic drawer units, my bigger awning i use when loads of space on campsite, stepladders, 2 captains chairs, folding clothes lines, sattelite dish, bag of spuds when going on the continent, other food stuffs also, in fact enough food to be self contained for 8 weeks abroad, ok apart from fresh food.
and still loads of room for pressies and good buys on the markets.
and before anyone says we have an 800 kg payload

We just love our garage model, couldn't see us with anything else to be honest, well not until the kids stop coming away with us anyway.

All of our external seating, bikes x 4, water carriers, tools, fishing gear and metal detectors to name just a few go in there with ease.:thumb: What would we do if we didn't have the garage up on top of the overcab bed I think which would result in a big hassle for us. Nah-a garage deffo makes life alot easier imo.

We have a garage for our 2 Quads and it has a double and single drop down Bunk

We originally bought a garage model becuse we could see the benefit of all that storage space. After a couple of months we got a scoot to put in there.

I cannot imagine not having a garage (with or without a scoot) as the space available for wind breaks wet clothes wellies and all manner of stuff is IMO an absolute must have. I think what you do with it depends on its layout (ie as it got any shelving or cubby holes allready) and obviously what you intend to put in it.

In conclusion you are correct... "every man, and indeed woman NEEDS a garage / shed"

At the risk of being pilloried, I'm going to disagree ..

IMO a shed on the motorhome will turn into the same as a shed at home.. stuffed full of crap that you don't need.. I've looked in some.. oh:. and all the weight is behind the rear axle..

better with lockers with external access under the seats of a nice U shaped rear lounge.. the more space you have the more stuff you take..

I wonder what people did before garages..

now do you best to convince me otherwise.. pictures please ..

Same as we did before we had inside toilets and hot running water...............struggled

Seriously though I do see your point a I cant even get in my shed for stuff and my tool box well lets not go there.
My garage is very neat and tidy though as everything has its spot wheel choks on the shelf with walking boots and wellies, wind break and brush hung under bed, table strapped to side, tools and cleaning stuff in there little spot then theres the scooter on its bespoke floor with wheel tie downs etc and the ramp at the side then theres the tire inflator and gas burner etc in another cubby hole.......all very very tidy. :thumb:

What I said was very tongue in cheek..

garages are useful for bikes and dirty outdoor stuff .. but there is a serious issue when people overload .. and as I said, the more space you have the more you take.. and if it's not fitted out properly just becomes a big glory hole.. I've seen people literally digging things out .. oh:

At least we aren't a 3.5 ton van!! What we don't carry that a lot of others do is lots of tins and jars and bottles of food - we buy as we go along - only stock up with a few cook-in sauce sachets and brown sauce really! What we do keep in stock is generally always in sachets or packets rather than heavy stuff.

Personally I prefer a rear lounge and good sized lockers.. horses for courses ..

I actually did that list from memory - we know what is in there and where it is - usually!!

We prefer to have the fixed rear bed rather than a lounge. Got plenty of storage space in cupboards inside anyway.

unlike most of the people on here who want to put the contents of their garage into the motorhome, I want a garage to put the motorhome into.

We traded our first MH in after only 3 months - U shaped lounge and what we though we would like - for one with a garage. The garage is great and makes life far less stressful as we can see what we have in there and what we need to get out is not at the bottom underneath everything as it was in the original MH.

The space is great but the payload is only 150kg so if we had a bike in there I guess we would not have too many other things! We always carry the red wine inside under the bench seats so that its at the right temperature for drinking with the white wine in the fridge along with the beer.

and a guy there had one of his garage doors open,with a ginormous dog guard across the opening, and kept his labrador in there as it was very hot, even went for a drink in the bar at night and left the door open with doggie in.
