Hello to all. We have just purchased our very first Motorhome and we can't wait to learn all about a different way of touring.
We have always had caravans but we don't seem to use them as much as we should. We run our own business so time off is short notice and varied. We hope switching to a motorhome will make it a bit easier to get away at the drop of a hat. Any tips or advice from you experts out there will be greatly received.
So excited. Hopefully pick her up next week all going well. :D

Do a couple weekends away . You will soon find out what you will use / need , rather that buying a load of stuff. Half of which you will hardy ever use

Welcome to the forum. What van have you gone for ? We looked for ages before we chose, and, to be honest, we probably over-thought it. Which is easy to do when you are spending so much hard-earned cash lol

Yes I know what you mean. We've considered this for ages. Finally went for it at the Motorhome show at NEC and got a Swift Kontiki 679. Ticks all the right boxes for us. Can't wait to try it. (y)

:D Thank you. I really hope it can change the amount of times we get away a year. As I said running our own business means grabbing a night here and a couple of nights there. With the caravan it seemed to be a right rigmarole so fingers crossed there will be some R&R ahead. (y)

Hello and welcome from West Midlands.
I would say being able to get up in the morning and deciding to go out in the van at the drop of a hat is one of the best parts of having a motorhome. We keep ours stocked with all the basics and can fill up the water tank and go at our leisure.

That sounds exactly the ticket. Hopefully even a night away on a Saturday and back Sunday will make this a worthwhile hobby.
Thank you all for your kind replies.

Well, we've joined, fully paid up members & all that,,, bloody great hole in our bank acc, funds that were there, now residing in dealers bank acc , but no MoHo?!!! Hopefully we'll be posting good news soon,,, don't worry about us though,,, we'll be ok, hopefully. Best from Biggus.

MH newbie, long time camp and caravan
Hi Dub Dog, like you we have been caravaners and took the plunge at the show and ordered a Bessacarr 494, don't get it until April/May, our decision though, we didn't think we would get to use it much during the winter months.
keep us informed on how you get on, we would be very interested.

:HelloThere:

We have been caravanners for 6 years

Then Motorhomers for 17 years

Then caravanners for 6 years

Now Motorhomers again for 3 years.

We loved both systems but have finally decided that the ability to "get up and go" swung it for us.

We also find that the journey is more of a holiday in a m/h. You see an interesting hill village and turn off the main road to take a look. Not so easy when towing!

Welcome and enjoy!:)
