I'm taking a weeks break end November beginning of December and plan amongst other things a couple of days at Slimbridge and hope on the way back home to Isle of Wight to go to Somerset levels to hopefully see some murmurations (if they still occur at this time of year).
Can anyone tell me if they do and if so where abouts is best and anywhere I can wild camp to see them.
If there's anywhere else en route between Slimbridge and Isle of Wight to see them that could also be useful.
Thanks in advance

When we first moved into our house some forty years ago starlings used to congregate on the local roof tops in their thousands.

Less than a hundred I suspect nowadays. :(

Its the time of year for murmurations. I think you can see them at Leighton Moss RSPB site, but its a long way from Slimbridge. We've noticed a big drop in numbers of starlings in our area.

I know its a long way from Slimbridge but we are going to detour via there and use it as an overnight stop on the way home via Portsmouth. I enjoy motor homing in winter and even enjoy wild camping in winter

We are lucky that we live out on Salisbury Plain and often see murmerations before going to roost, not so many now but you have to hunt around, there are plenty of wilding spots out there where you won't get bothered by anyone.

I used to get "MURMERATIONS" when I was in the Merchant Navy.

The Skipper used to call it "Mutinous Mutters"
