Monster fire at highbridge caravans google bridgwater mercury for details, alleged 100 caravans burnt out dont think anyone was hurt thank god

10 engines and about £1m damage buy no buildings caught and the show is still going ahead.. Although where they will get stock is anyone's guess surely.

Arson??? What can start a fire like that in loads of empty, gasless and powerless caravans. It must be devastating for that to happen, I hope that they do have adequate insurance cover. Trouble is that they are all parked so close together, bit like an Aire on a busy night.

I'm sure even the heat from that fire would of trashed many of the plastic windows of the other caravans that never actually caught alight.

Not sure about gasless. I read a news story that suggested part of the problem the fire brigade had was gas bottles heating up and exploding.

I did think at the time is was odd that they would leave bottles connected in sale vans in their yard.

I think some of the vans must have been customers as they were parked outside the service bay building. Hence the gas bottles.

Brother in law bought a new tourer and left it on a site permanently he didn't realise that although he was hooked up if nobody was on site the farmer would turn off the power supply, he had never had a caravan before and could not understand why he never had any gas left when he went up to his van every few weeks ,he didn't realise that the fridge was an automatic energy supply type and since he hadn't turned off the gas the fridge had been on permanantly so this may have happened at highbridge if one of those vans had a faulty fridge as they were in a service bay lineup

No leaks in 10years in my autocruise stargazer toots old chap ...just had its yearly hab check and still in good form ..lol

Not in this case. They already know that it started in a shed or building and spread to the yard.

You've got to visit the Highbridge site just to appreciate just how Huge it is.

Must be the biggest retailer in terms of volume of sales and stock. I've seen customers queueing to give them a cheque to do a deal.
