Not even attempting to be anti Scottish but I take your point about renewable energy and oil and whisky (hic) but weigh that up against the free items the Scots get from their government that's paid for by the UK (note, the UK not just England) and the benefits then they're still on the plus side. Salmon and Sturgeon are anti English rather than English being anti Scottish.OPEC were only going to put up with low prices until they'd got rid of some competitors. Job done & they cut production to increase prices. Those that believed oil prices would stay low were deluding themselves. IMHO its time that we finally cut our reliance on fossil fuels & pull the rug from under the greedy Arab billionaire's clubs feet. We've got to make the move at some point & now looks promising.
In the meantime, just watch Ms Sturgeon jump back on the bandwagon for another referendum. With all the anti Scottish mis-reporting stirring up hatred between England & Scotland I wouldn't blame Scotland for biting the bullet to unloading England. I'm English & the behaviour of the press & quite a few forum members is embarrassing (as a broad selection of the public) I wouldn't blame the Scots for going this time. Now before you jump onto the anti Scottish bandwagon, be very careful that you don't throw out the baby with the bathwater, Scotland contributes a lot of wealth to the UK economy & twisting the figures to show balance of payments (Daily Mail thinking) simply doesn't take things like oil or renewable energy into account!
Got me worried then,,BUSBY.typo i meant to type 1.35 now edited

Thank you and I appreciate your vernacular by using twerps. Aren't they pregnant goldfish?Very well thought out reply & I applaud you for it.
The Scottish people like most others in the civilised world have no say at all over the way their country is financed. They can cast a vote in the same way as anyone else but from then on, they have little or no say in events afterwards, so forum members firing abuse at the Scots for this situation is deeply unfair. It just appears to be the way they are treated on the whole. Its a shame really as most Scots that I know are deeply proud of being part of the UK.
Your spot on about the fishy twins (Salmond & Sturgeon) are anti English & I know that most Scots here are embarrassed by their behaviour & rhetoric. My other half (a Scot) gets angry & have the humility to be embarrassed when these twerps stand up to let their bellies rumble.

Supply and demand cycles have always been just that - cyclic. Reaction always lags behind action. Oil price might rise a bit but any increase will result in higher tight oil output from USA which will dampen the marketSame will happen as happened last time it shot up. People just didnt drive unless necessary. And so, garages sold less, staff still had to be paid, supermarkets undercut prices greatly, consumption flopped, expensive super tankers were standing idle at around 1/2 a million a day, so the price fell. It's called the yo-yo effect.

Pound on it's knees? Still higher than a few years ago when we got €1.01 for £1.00. Not as high as last year but £ and € fluctuate. That's the marketWe are still enjoying diesel at 80p per litre here in Bulgaria. The price seems to have held steady for some time now even though the £ is on its knees.

I too have mixed feelings about higher oil prices. There are two sides to every story. I like buying cheaper diesel for my MH, but I work for a company selling specialist valves worldwide, to be used on Oil Wells, and lower oil prices have affected our business, by reducing orders, and resulting in some redundancies.it will make drilling for the stuff more via bill i see a job move on the horizon time to up date my certs i think
bill
Spot on, GrahamI though the Saudi and OPEC only agreed to cut back 80000 barrels a day. not enough to make a difference to production of millions.

on way to stop that i have always sad that haulage company should be charged the comparability cost of dised on the content only on a bunkering card i know it wont work never hapen but we can dreemMost of what we pay is TAX and that does not vary apart from the VAT part, If you deduct the 20% vat and then the 56.6 p duty then the fuel is cheap as chips. The garages get a few pence, distribution system a few pence and the refinery costs, you are left with the raw costs.
The price variation across Europe reflects how they see Transport of goods as being a national cost, hence petrol is deare than Diesel. The UK just hate Haulage and the price of fuel is shown to be higher. However what most politicians do not realise is that the Foreign lorries on the road here, that undercut our rates ALL fill up on cheaper European priced Fuel before they arrive, drive around and go back out without putting too much more in so they use the system to make more revenue.
I thought they had a system whereby foreign trucks now paid a levy equivalent to our road tax for HGVs...Most of what we pay is TAX and that does not vary apart from the VAT part, If you deduct the 20% vat and then the 56.6 p duty then the fuel is cheap as chips.
