I know the difference but not the consequences so . . .

I have an old gadget, a digibox of sorts that supposedly monitors the water flowing into the fish pond and helps keep it clear. The transformer feeding it has packed up but has, or had, an 18vDC/1000ma output. I do have one similar that used to feed the rockery lights but that has an 18v AC output. Will it blow up my digibox if I use it or is it a visit to ebay? :cautious:

Probably because isn't dc direct current and ac alternating current? Same volts different electrickerytions.

Yes, it does matter. In fact it is likely to be fatal. Maplins in a hurry, or Ebay if you have time

Make sure that the replacement is rated at 1000ma (that's 1amp) minimum. You can go higher on available current, but not lower or you will burn it out and likely to end up with a fire. The volts and DC must be correct.

They were shocked that a lad like me (originally from the valleys) couldn't sing two notes in tune. But I can't, well at least not when anyone else is listening.

I won't get fooled again
