Just back from Mosel last Wednesday
That would do for starters just be aware there can be some noise at night from goods trains on some sites as railway follows rever for a fair bit of its length.
Plenty campsites and stileplatz to choose from
I will not recommend anywhere in particular just go and explore
If you can take bikes with you

Just on my way home from Berlin, currently spending the night in Amsterdam and ferry tomorrow. If it's like the last week you'll need your sun cream. If you like cities then Berlin is lovely place to visit for a few days.

We are off tomorrow!! Heading towards the far east around Lobau and Zittau in Saxony. We picked up a brochure from some German visitors in the isle of Man, it looks totally unspoiled probable due to being behind the iron curtain for the last 50 years.
If you've not been to Germany before head for Achen (pick up the E42 from near Dunkirk) Cross the German border on the A3 and take the first exit onto the 258. Turn south to Monschau (must see visit) and continue south to the Mosel, Travel along the Mosel to Boppard and cross the Rhine by ferry. Travel south down the Rhine and continue south to the Black Forest. Wine, beer, food are all first class and the menus are easier to read than the French ones

We're considering this for next year: -
7-Day Tour of Romantic Road, Germany

Day 1 : start in Würzburg and head into the Tauber valley, with a stop at Tauberbischofsheim before reaching Bad Mergentheim. Overnight here and explore the headquarters of the Teutonic Order and the surroundings.
Day 2 : another lazy day meandering through the vineyards of the Tauber valley before arriving in good time at the walled town of Rothenburg. Explore the sights and maybe do an evening guided city tour.
Day 3 : morning down to Dinkelsbühl with the afternoon to Nördlingen and overnight. Take some time to explore both interesting towns and maybe look at the Ries crater around Nördlingen.
Day 4 : south past the picturesque Harburg Castle (tour can be undertaken) or to the pretty centre of Donauwörth before ending up in Augsburg.
Day 5 : explore Augsburg and its rich history.
Day 6 : head south through the rolling hills and villages of the Alpine foothills. Take a look at Landsberg am Lech before eventually heading down to Schwangau or Füssen.
Day 7 : visit either Neuschwanstein or Hohenschwangau Castle and then spend the afternoon having a look around the town of Füssen with its historic centre.
Whatever you decide, @colyboy, we hope you have a great time!

We ve been in germany and Denmark for the past month. Too many great places to list - Weather has been amazing, just starting to cool down.

Couple of notes: A7 between Hanover and Hamburg is a nightmare with roadworks right now and much of Hamburg orbital is dug up.

Three feel at home working perfectly if a little slow at times.

Note on Schloss Neuschwanstein - apparently the parking and access arrangements have been changed again, even more difficult to get on a tour - dont expect to rock up and walk in.

If you are at all technically minded - the technical museums at Speyer and Sinsheim are excellent.

Also the Mercedes museum at Stutgart is very comprehensive relates the vehicles to the appropriate social history.
