Sorry about this. I should have paid attention to other posts!

Questions then......

1.Have other funsters renewed online?

2. If so, when renewing online, if one DOESN'T wish to retain the C1 & D1 entitlements, it says, "If you do not wish to retain this entitlement, just click 'next' and the DVLA will renew you CAR entitlement only"

I balked at this point and have left the online application cooking because it sounds like I'm gonna be relegated to a Micra!

Does the above really mean that one can drive a car and other up to 3,500kg???

you keep the b+e so you cab drive a vehicle upto 3,500kg gvw and pull any weight trailer so long as you dont break the trainweight of the towing vehicle .
fifth wheeler could be the way forward . possible to have lots payload with the right outfit.

I planned to retain the C1 and twice in the past three months I applied online for the D2 form, having downloaded the D4, but received nothing. I didn't persue it as I had a cataract op recently. I was reluctant to do the medical until getting new specs and the prescription to give the GP so I renewed online and got my licence within 3 days, minus the C1 of course. Phoned DVLA a day or two ago and was told they'd had problems with the website but would send the forms asap. As said recently on another thread there should be no problem getting the C1 added retrospectively following the med as long as it's done soon. Not sure if I'll persue it as I'll probably not uprate or buy anything bigger but we'll see.

Hi I wanted to retain my C1 so got the D2 from a main post office Paid £140 to my doctor for a private medical and filling in the D2,had eye tested and new glasses @ £200 but they also filled in their part of the D2 for free the the doctor then picked up an early prostate problem that i may not have found out about for a few more years so money well spent and in hostpital tomorrow for operation, probably the best money i ever spent, just need to win the lottery so i can buy a bigger Gin Palace to use the new C1 7.5 ton licence on. Good Luck.

Regards Snowbirds.

@snowbirds Take it careful after the prostrate op, I think it takes a while to get over and then there is the follow up. We still waiting for the MRI and biopsy part of the journey!

I must say i have had the best of procedures and help along the way.don't worry about MRI and biopsy part of it,mine was very straight forward in and out the same day with no problems.
I also had a bone scan after my results came back and there are quite a few options on further treatment to choose from and great back up from a very professional team.
I have decided to go for the less invasive procedure so hopefully only two nights in hospital.
Good luck with the next part and don't worry about it you will be in good hands.

Regards Snowbirds.

Good luck with DVLA @wingman , we are still waiting for answer on C1 application at 70.. Completed forms with medical report sent on 19 April 2016. Went with a private specialised medical company thinking it would save our GP practice the time and trouble, however that just held things up.

Yes you can, retrospectively renew the c+1. Did it myself in July. Medical, doc used my Feb eye test results. Sent off. Now have C+1 for 3years And endorsement 101 removed following cataract op and implants .
