Currently at the free aire here. Has anyone used the D662 to the north of the river. My map shows a couple of low tunnels. One at 2.9 metres towards Vers which is the road we want to take to Rocamador and at a smidgen over 2.8 metres I'm not happy to chance it.

Thanks. My map book is a Michelin also. Seems it recommends going south of the river to start with and crossing over just west of the low bit. That bit is right on the page split of the map so is not quite so clear! All the roads around here are a bit small. Thankfully not that much traffic. It's just that we've seen a lot of motorhomes coming from that direction which caused me to doubt the map. Seems Mr. Michelin thinks it's a bit of road to avoid!

Hi Rod,
Free aire looking out onto the river, about 20 metres away. There is also another aire just been set up just before the entrance of the free one! About 7.50 to stay there. Quite busy but this is the supposed to be the most visited village in France. Worth the long walk up to it. GreAt views. Tourist office is right at the top!
Borne is 2 euro by token but there is a toilet block just by the bridge with a tap that I saw being used to fill watering cans etc.

Thanks Stevec, much appreciated.

We're on the municipal site at Condom (unfortunate name for a town!) at present then moving a bit north to Caumont sur Garonne canal side under the trees for tomorrow night I think.

The site at Condom is good at €14.52 / night with all services inc. wi-fi, showeres etc. There is an Aire next door as well. Location 43.94847, 0.36424.

Rod

Apologies for hi-jacking the thread by the way.

If you travel west on the south side of the river the 1st bridge you come to is at Bouzies and is only 2.3 m wide. I've driven these roads a fair number of times before having the M/H and I would be wary of those tunnels and overhanging rocks on the north side. I'm pretty sure that the tunnels on the north side before Conduche are higher and you could follow the Cele from there as far as Cabreret and then cross country. As you said it is all a bit narrow round there.
If you get to Rocamadour it's worth going to Padirac Chasm as well.

Is that 2.3 metres at shoulder height or actual metalled road width? Will check out your other suggestions.

Hi Jonny,
Just cycled along the river bank and walked the chemin de ha lage into Bouzier. Saw the bridge and it looked wide enough. But I wasn't on anything larger than a bike! Will probably look at exits East or south. At least I know that the route in is doable.
We rode back along the road above the cliff. Spectacular scenery. We tried to get to the riverside track but the only way to do that was by parachute!

As you're at Condom have you been just along the road to La Romieu?
Fabulous little fortified town with the biggest church ever in a tiny town.
Very good ACSI site there, Camping de La Florence, €17 with good bar/restaurant, pool etc. Just a few hundred yards from the town.

Richard.

We used that road in 2011 in our Hymer, about 3.2m high with dome with no problems, you may have to move to the middle of the road in a few places. Drove from the aire at Vers to Saint Cinq and then back to aire at Vers, heres a few photos of route.

ask as we had it marked as a possibility when we traveled that way on Friday
If you do go there Rod the borne does not dispense water although it will take your 2 euro (found it was not a token). I have a 25 litre container strapped under the van and filled up at the WC block.

Tunnels were not an issue.....but the tiny roads the satnav took us down to get to Rocamador were a bit tight.
