Hoping to get a motor home next year having had a couple of years sabbatical after selling a VW T5 Camper Van

Myself and my partner are far too young to have automatic C1 licence entitlement.

Can anyone recommend a fixed bed motorhome with a decent payload? 500kg plus.

Thanks

We have a Hymer Exsis I, it has a fixed bed . We had it weighed last week and the Hymer weight information seems really accurate. Fully loaded with all our stuff for a trip ( incl bikes etc) it still only came in at 3200kg. Suspect a Hymer Exsis T would be lighter still as we have a drop down bed at the front.

If a PVC is of interest then an Autocruise Alto fits your bill. I have a 2013 version and payload in excess of 500kg. However the fixed bed is only 3' 11" in width but is really comfortable and gives great under bed storage. You do need to be petite to use the shower though - I'm not and tend to use site showers. Love mine but then there is only me and the dog!

If that were your only criteria then there's hundreds! Here is a spreadsheet I made showing over 630 payload Vans and Compacts with fixed rear beds ;)

Details are not guaranteed though as I changed focus from under 6m to 5.5m before I checked some :)

our expected arrival of a Globecar 600L revolution has a weight of 2910kg on a 3500kg chassis, so 590kg payload. ( including 20l of freshwater)

the similar 600L (non revolution) is lighter at 2805kg ish, but is on a 3300 chassis so payload is reported as 495kg (including 20l of freshwater)

Our Hymer 552CL on Ford chassis fully loaded for fortnight away including George our Pointer including 2 leisure baths and solar panel still leaves us 200+kg. It's rated at 3500kg. Also has fixed bed. We are in Misano Italy halfway through our trip and me answer swmbo are still talking !!

Thanks for all your suggestions. I'll take a look at some of them. We've always like the newer Chausson stuff too

Was there for WSBK in June! Went to Assen on my way home for the GP.

Did that in a Skoda Superb though ha.

Hi Vanman, Why not upload that spreadsheet into the resources section, its a great bit of work!

Thanks for the vote of confidence (y) however much of it will be out of date by the NEC show and there's no plans for it to be updated beyond that so I won't take up valuable server space with it this time ;) Happy to message or email it to anyone with a current interest in <6m fixed bed compacts and pvc's though.

Spotted a couple of Burstner models I like too. The Brevio and the Travel Van.

I think a trip to the show next month is in order
