Hi all,

we have just been away to France for a couple of weeks and whilst there we noticed the fridge wasn't cooling properly on hook up, I put it down to being 30 odd + degree's and thought nothing of it,

After leaving Annecy and on arrival in chamonix we found that the fridge beeped and flashed red / blue on hook up so switched it to gas and all good for the remaining time away.

Now home and cleared van out I switched fridge off only for it to switch back on a few minutes later and start beeping again???

Please can anyone point me in the right direction as these fridges seem to have a bit of a reputation

Thanks Andy

Sounds like the mains voltage element in your fridge is on the way out. A common problem if they're used for longish periods. Elements are cheap to buy, but labour costs to replace them are high. If your halfway competent as a DIY sort then its an easy job to do at home.

Just as a for instance look up E bay number

Now it's just flashing through the gas / 12 / 240 / AES readouts without stopping!

If it's on "Auto" & plugged into the mains, it'll be having a hissy fit. Try unplugging from the mains, engine off & see if it'll go back over to gas. Hopefully it'll settle down & prove that there's a mains element fault.

I should imagine that there's a reset switch somewhere on the fridge, if not it's time to isolate the vehicle totally, disconnect the battery for 20minutes or so & see what happens when you power it back up.

I'm not quite sure why it'l be doing that, but I still have the mains element as chief culprit. It might need to be looked at by your local dealer, but lets wait to see what other forum members think? There's a huge wealth of experience on here.

I asked because it sounds like my previous fridge which had an AES selector button. If you held the button down it just cycled through the options. They can do this if the get wet/damp too (at the button) so maybe a bit of dirt or water? Just thinking out loud :)

If you google "rmd 8505 user manual" you can find the dometic manual. Page 22 ish explains what the lights mean. Sorry dont know how to paste the url using ths tablet. It was a dometic site it came from. Good luck !

This might be easier, look in the resources section, theres a download for 8 series fridges. I cant download on this tablet but hope it has info you need.

Think I might be inclined to power it down completely for a few hours and then try again. A sort of "reboot" in case the controller board electronics are having a turn.

You seem to be making a bit of progress with it though. Fingers crossed.

Best remedy is to ditch the existing control boards, front and rear and change to a 7000 series board. It's less tech but reliable since I did mine.
