Hi,

Sadly, the fires in Javea have affected our house. We are not sure of the extent of the damage as yet. The Guests that were holidaying were evacuated to the Marriott hotel.

We have just spent several thousand €uros having the garden refurbished.

Is anyone in Javea and seen how bad things are?.

The good news is, nobody has been injured or killed yet!.

Gutted.

Thanks for the replies. We have had such bad luck just lately, coupled with some health and family issues. Just when you think things are on the up!.

Fingers crossed.

We are on the edge of the Granadella national park where there are still fires.

Javea Firefighters Race To Beat New 8 P.M. Night Flying Deadline
The fire in Javea is still blazing ferociously at 5 p.m. on Monday, the Valencia emergency services coordinator confirmed to The Spain Report.

A spokeswoman said the situation was perhaps a little better but basically the same as this morning, with some 800 acres of land affected.

There are now 28 firefighting aircraft attacking the flames.

Crews are racing to dump enough retardant on the blaze before night falls again and the aircraft are once more grounded. This will likely happen at around 8 p.m. tonight.

The spokeswoman said the Cumbres del Sol area behind the town has already been evacuated and that emergency services are about to hold another meeting to discuss plans for the night should the flames not be controlled in the next three hours.

So sorry to hear your news. We have friends who live down there and I've been following their story and photos on facebook. They had to evacuate this afternoon. I don't think they know if the fire reached their house yet.

Thank you for the replies.

An update........

The Bombers and volunteers saved the main house. The gardens and exterior is another matter. The insurance assessor is going in on Tuesday to inspect the house and gardens.

I will try and post a before and after.

It might not help much but here in Portugal there are wild fires every year.

It is amazing how quickly the flora recovers...

The palms might recover but it is interesting to see all the little "stubs" from the old fronds have been burned off leaving a smooth trunk - if its the same tree in both pictures. :)
