this months C+CC mag has run an artical about a proposed ban on wild camping in certain parts of scotland.

i believe this is aimed at tenters but may also apply to wildcamping motorhomes in some situations.

the national parks authority have proposed the ban in response to the amount of abandoned camping gear and rubbish left by a minority of tent campers.

they will be providing informal campsites as a replacement for the present scottish outdoor access code which allows people to camp freely practicaly anywhere in scotland.

if the ban comes into force the first affected areas will be Sallochy Bay, Balmaha and Rowardennan early next year followed by lochs Lubnaig and Venachar by 2011.

Lomond camping ban looms in bid to beat yobs

Published Date: 30 August 2009
By Martyn McLaughlin
SCOTLAND'S first national park is to ban camping in three beauty sports in a bid to eradicate violence and vandalism at drunken parties.

The tough measures proposed by the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority (NPA) will herald an end to the right to virtually unfettered access to one of Scotland's most popular visitor destinations.

As always the few drunken yobs spoil what was an enjoyable pastime for many law abiding people, who camp and go unnoticed by people either while camping or when they have left.

Sad isn't it... but Loch Lomond has always had a problem, fast rail link from Glasgow made it a favourite of the yobs who go camping with nothing more than a cheap tent and case of even cheaper wine.. . The Big Yin even wrote a song about it ..

Some Git has already ruined the Calgary Bay site by putting 2 giant boulders either side of the gateway, only cars and PVCs will fit through, coachbuilts and A class will not.

Local rumours point to the hotel owner having placed them there.

nothing a decent 4X4 and a steel rope cant fix.....Bryan !!!!!

unless the hotel owner owns the access road / beach then that is illegal and causing an obstruction and should be reported to whatever the scottish version is of the highways dept.

they have an obligation to maintain all roads, no matter how minor.
