Can anyone recommend anyone in or near Stoke on Trent to repair some damage to our Auto Sleeper Broadway. We have just completed 3,000 trouble free miles on our Benidorm trip and on returning home and reversing up to our property our trailer jack knifed and punched a hole in the rear corner of our motorhome. The total damaged area is 4inches square. I've been in touch with 3 companies and all 3 haven't bothered with promised estimates.

If its a hole you could do it yourself with fibre glass kit from somewhere like a to z at Fenton, but there must be plenty fibre glass places in stoke, I know there's one on bramshall industrial estate near Uttoxeter, and there is a motorhome specialist in cannock

I agree with the repair it yourself comments and then any body shop should be able to tidy it up with filler and paint to match.

If you do it yourself, make sure that you drill a hole at the end of the cracks ,if you don't ,they will continue to spread

It's not just the hole which I'm quite capable of repairing Chaser its the painting as well, our motorhome is only 15 months old.

John ,it's most likely gell coat that is on the surface, your best bet would be a boat repair yard , gell coat is a mix of white and other subtle colours . I've done a few motor homes when I had my body shop ,and getting the mix right comes with a ton of practice , boat yards do the repairs more frequently

Not in fibreglass they don't as the random orientation of the mat stops crack propagation.

I would ask the mobile scratch guy if he could do it , on the whole they are not taught to do that type of repair , a lot of it also depends on how fussy you are , I did smart repairs from a workshop for over 7 years , I also had a boat and taught myself how to repair fiberglass / gell coat .

Could you repair it with body filler with gauze and then get a bumper repair type place to paint it.

Thanks everyone for the help that you have all given, I've had the damage repaired today at Steve's smart repairs, Sutherland road, Longton.
A first class job has been done by Steve he masked everything off on the van, roof, solar panels windows etc and you cant tell that a repair as been done, I would highly recommend Steve if anyone in the area needs repair or insurance work doing.

I know its a long time since you had the problem with the hole in your motorhome. I just wanted to know how much the repair cost. I have a similar size hole in my van. If it is expensive I will do it myself. Any help appreciated.

It cost me £400 pounds and he resprayed the panel so that it blended in with the rest of the body work.

Thanks John. I emailed him a picture and it will be about £550 + VAT
Apparently they do not make the part anymore so he would have to rebuild it.
