Hi all.
The instrument panel on my 2000 reg ducato seems to be for decoration only,as far as fuel or speed goes.
The speedometer needle waves at me all the time rather than tell actual speed, but I have grown used to it.
The fuel gauge though is heading towards empty fast after about 400 km.
When I fill it at that point it takes between 37 and 40 litres.
So long story short is ducato fuel tank only about 40 ish litres or am I being duped by gauge

The tank is 80 litres (from memory) so something is awry. We tend to take a 70 litre fill every time the gauge goes near to empty.

Thanks for the replies.

Am I right In thinking that the fuel tank on a ducato would be a standard fiat part and that the capacity would be the same in all coach built campervans

Well mine is a 2000 reg 2.8 idtd.

Would fiat fit different size fuel tanks to different engine sized ducatos?
I would have thought they would all be the same

I think that the fuel tank can be 3 different capacities, 60 80 0r 110. the 110 is a special mod.

Yes, it's a standard van chassis with a caravan grafted on basically.
Our fuel gauge, 53 plate Boxer, drops like a stone till just over half full then really slowes down. I've put it down to the shape of the tank.(y)
Your speedo may be foobard. (n)

Long time
Our fuel gauge works sometimes, so OH has got used to using the trip to tell him when to refuel. Our Speedo seems to out about 5mph slower acording to roadside digital alerts!

Not necessarily, size weight and lots more are taken into consideration, bigger fuel tank = less payload & so on

Thanks for that.glad to have a capacity figure.

Any more please

I wonder could I dip the tank when the gauge is showing near empty.
I know that you can't on modern cars/vans.
