Oh dear ,I ordered some of them a few years ago but can't remember their name , I think I googled tap inserts and found a company from Camberley that supplied them.

I believe its a type of aerator rather than a restrictor.
In effect it increases the amount of water by adding air as it leaves the tap.

it's not a restrictor or an aerator .. it's called a 'flow straightener'..

it's purpose is to give a nice straight flow rather than a splatter or spray

Jim if they are not restrictors then why can you get different grades claiming different levels , e.g 4 ltrs per min , 6 ltrs per min , 8 ltrs per min etc.

im confused >><<

primary purpose is to straighten the flow.. of course there will be some restriction.. so you can also choose flow rate.. a reduced flow will (may) save water ..

@pappajohn Interesting after cleaning the so called reducer in the pics at the top i went to put it back in the MH when i thought i would try a small test :)
So i got a 3lt empty milk container and filled it up WITHOUT the reducer or whatever in it , it took 40 secs for 3lts out of the main kitchen tap
so i reinstalled the reducer or whatever back into the tap ,, again 3lts and yes you got it 40 secs ,, so seemed it made no difference in the amount of water that came out of the tap.
Still not putting me of ordering one of them like 2ltrs min so called reducer to try it.
