Over-cab bed weight limit specifications? (1 Viewer)

Does anyone have have any specs or info (documented or first-hand experience) of the maximum weight limits for over-cab beds, in the most popular/common motorhomes? I'm having a job finding any manufacturer anywhere sharing this info on their tech specs in brochures etc.

Serious question, and while I appreciate there may be some fat jokes to be had, I'm genuinely looking for helpful answers.

.....seriously, I don't think that there is a weight limit as such, more like a size limit - there isn't usually a lot of space up there so gravitationally challenged people would not want to sleep up in what can be a claustrophobic space. We have an A class with drop down bed, but still nothing from the manufacturer about weight limits.

Seems like the kind of info that might be useful before you buy it, but Hymer specifically were one of the brochures I looked at and couldn't find it (or in their tech specs on price list)

I would think that's pretty much standard weight on the Hymer range they all look about the same in the newer vans.

Only info I have seen was a label on the bed mechanism with a weight limit. Think ours a Frankia Duo bed was 200kg or 250kg, know we checked at the time to make sure it would be ok as I'm not the lightest! I think it is listed in the Manual, but definitely not in the brochures, tech specs or options list.

Burstner drop down is 200kg too so I can't wear my cast iron chastity belt

Hard to differentiate between a static load and a dynamic load when I've been on the curry and beer. I prefer to think of the payload being more in transit than anything else

Of course, that is presuming you weren't referring to something else, although I can't think what

Our drop down bed has a 200kg weight limit ........ I would think overcabs would have similar but I may be wrong.... usually am.

200kg on my hymer but only when parked. Bugger all when driving so they can't get sued if you forget the strap and the bed falls on your head.

200 kg on my sunlight over cab bed. In the brochure. 100 kg on each bunk. No load stated for dinette bed
