Jim

It depends when and where you are going - also type of site you prefer, we like Municipal sites in France but they tend not to join the discount scheme.

Suggest you check the Link Removedand see

we have a few favourites that take ACSI and a couple that accept Camping Cheques, and a lot more that take neither, but the savings can be up to several euros a night and you could come out well ahead on just 14 nights camping with judicious use of the card

mind you - price of card has gone up quite a lot since we first used it

Jim

Almost YES.

The big discounts are off peak season so if you go at peak season all you are getting is a list of sites.

Well it's only a tenner !

That's the planner DVD, no discount card. You need both.

The DVD program is really very good for the little they charge. I'll hang on 'till I can order both together, I have my flock to consider ( Sh$t, what have I done. Wife keeps asking that. It'll be great I keep telling her, it'sa Italia, that have to like it or we get Valentino of the Cosa Nostra to do his thing on the exit to the motorway tunnel )

:thumb::thumb:We always use the CC ASCI discount at our last site outside Paris in September we paid 31.80 euro for 2 nights inc local tax , but a Dutch couple in front of me paid 52.80 euro for 2 nights without the CC ASCI card so as you can see it soon pays for itself on your 1st stopover we have used the CC ASCI card for the last 3 years all over France and stopped on some really nice sites combined with using aires its a very cheap and pleasant way for Motorhoming:thumb::thumb:

My advice is YES I have both but don't travel on the continent June-July. The ACSI is for discounted rates OUTSIDE the summer months i.e. when the sites are little used and to encourage you to use them. CCI is useful for sites that are NOT part of the ACSI deal:thumb:

they are really quite different - although you can get a discount at some sites when you produce your CCI card. They are issued by member groups and provide a degree of insurance on site, can hand them in as a substitute for your passport at 98% of sites. They are more of an id card and give passport details.
ACSI card only really relevant at participating sites, but you complete the details yourself and so could contain incorrect name and address details eg nothing to stop you entering chas windsor of nobs palace :ROFLMAO:

Ah, that one.

I got one last year and we left it and the ACSI card at home.

We just did Hinton Lock and left the bike batteries at home.

But best of all, year before, we got near Stanstead and I was picturing walking into the ferry terminal and paying for a change of sailing times and the picture went all wrong - "Where is my coat with the money and credit cards ?"

You guessed

Each to their own but personally I think the guide is a waste of money. The DVD on the otherhand is well worth buying, very comprehensive, lots of detail, and of course includes GPS to each site. It also covers a far wider range than the guide.

Vicarious books sell the DVD at £12 or you can buy the same thing direct from the ACSI website at £10.50.

Better still......look out for an ACSI inspector on any site you are staying. They carry a boot load of the damn things around, and I bought my 2009 DVD for just a fiver. They also carry more detailed ACSI guides which are not sold on either the ACSI website or at Vicarious Books.

Note.....Just realised it wasn't five quid i paid for my DVD, it was five euro so even better!

Ere, you windin me up. You want me to go round tapping people on the shoulder saying "You are an ACSI inspector and I claim my €5 DVD"

Now I've got visions of Basil Faulty when he was trying to spot the inspector.

Hi,
The clubs in the Uk only provide the CCI for 1 year, but it appears ADAC have an option for either 1 or 3 years at 6€ and 15€ respctively, has anyone purchased one from ADAC

Nope......and I didn't even have to go looking, they actually came to me!

I was on a site near Weimar in Germany and an ACSI inspector was staying on the same site. They go around to other campers asking if they will agree to answering a few questions about the site in general, but she introduced herself to me by asking if I had the ACSI Camping guide book. I told her I had bought a current one just before leaving the UK and thought it was a waste of money. Thats when she showed me the DVD. Even told me to try it out first as she wasn't sure if it was in English (it's in several languages actually). Soon as I had it loaded in my pc I could see immediately it was much better than the guide book so they sold it me for five euros.

So that's how it works.

Normally people don't get a lot out of me with "Have you got a minute Sir". If I'm in a good mood it's "Certainly, and special offer today only £1 a minute". Works a treat on the phone.

We must have saved at least 100 Euros last June and July staying at ASCI sites in the Netherlands As for filling in the wrong details on it -Some sites will check your passport when you book in even with the ASCI card so I would suggest using the correct name. I have already pre ordered mine. There is nothing nicer than paying for your two nights at a site and the the guy on the next pitch paying for his and you are paying 20 euros less:ROFLMAO:

We were too late ordering our ACSI for 2009 and ended up having to buy a German copy from the Netherlands . Essential book / card for us as we 'out of season' (September) motorhome in Europe and Never pay full price by using ACSI, camping/touring cheque and carefully selected aires. From ACSI website for 2009 we also downloaded the GPS locations and added them to the Tomtom which took us straight to the door every time.

You have to be a member of ADAC in order to qualify for the CCI

"Die Camping Card International (CCI) ist ausschließlich für ADAC Mitglieder erhältlich."
=
"The camping Card international (CCI) is exclusively available for ADAC members. "

Also, the remark about entering incorrect data on the ACSI was to point out that it wasn't reliable as an ID card, not suggesting that you should try it, can't really see the point

Hi,

You are correct that you need to be a member, but I know there are quiet a few on this site who have joined, me for one, just wanted to check if any of them had also purchase a CCI as well, sorry I didn't make it clear.

We also have reduced a copy of our passport down to a credit card size and laminated it, which is also accepted by most campsites rather than offering your normal passport.

excellent thinking - we have similar copy of driving licence, but would think Passport info would be more acceptable

Am I doing something wrong, I pre-ordered last year and paid when I ordered, anyone have information, or as I say in a shop when there is no price - "does this mean it is free"???

seem to work ok for me, suggest you drop them a line, there may be a glitch in the system and it'd be awful if you hadn't actually processed the order - could be left bookless and cardless :Eeek: in 2010 - and at current rate of degression the pound'll need all the help these deals can give it

Ordered my card last week..
We only go away for 3 weeks at the end of August / start of September and the card was paid for after two stops !!

One thing I would say, I found that a good many sites on the Italian and French riviera advertised the ACSI card and declared their membership, but gave either no or very little discount.
Further in to France and places in germany and Belgium gave us the full wack and in one week we saved more than €50 in total
