Nano tracker woes (2 Viewers)

Fitted a Nano tracker for the kids / grandkids to follow us for a laugh.

Now we had forgotten to "wake" it up with a phone call every 3 months as instructed
So we called it up expecting a Google map location.

Instead we got a return phone call from a Chinese man

"wah u want"

Err are campervan.

"I no sell campervan"

Ahh ok.

He must've been desperate to sell whatever he sells as we ended up blocking his (our) number.

Think our number has been re allocated have to get a new SIM card guess we've lost the £25 credit as well.

Only ourselves to blame

Don't know what happened there as a paye as you go mobile number can be dormant for 6 months before disconnection.

One call or one text in 6 months is enough to keep it active..

I use a payg giffgaff card in my nano102 with an initial £10 calling credit only (no bundles)....more than enough for a years use.

Ok if you use Lyca in your tracker and phone....SMS are free.
Otherwise Lyca charge 19p per text

GiffGaff = 6p per text

Three. = 2p per text.

Mine came with a Lyca sim which got binned straight away.

Don't forget to buy a 2G sim.
3G/4G don't work.
EBay is a good place to find 2G

Then they are to be avoided at all cost.
I don't even top up my phone sim that often.
