Retire in 3 weeks and just bought our very first motorhome (1 Viewer)

Hi to you all
I retire in just 3 glorious weeks from now and we bought our very first motorhome a few months ago in anticipation of being able to spend a lot of long leisurely holidays in Europe slowly sampling good food, good wines and hopefully good company.
Although we are new to it all I have been a fan of this great site for a few months now and have found the advice invaluable - hope to spend many more years taking part in your site.

did the same in 2009, bought van 2 weekends away at home then off to France and Spain after retirement party, please note, January and snow are an interesting combination for a first trip abroad.

Think it's time to come clean I am afraid as my conscience is starting to twitch - we are not actually from Cumbria, We have just recently drifted here from Yorkshire! Both brought up in Leeds, we then reared our family in the beautiful market town of Wetherby and then when the kids had flown the nest we had 7 delightful and totally peaceful years in a small village just outside of York. Sold the big house last year, moved to Cumbria to spend time with our family and grand daughter and used the proceeds to fund both the retirement home and the motorhome.
Still trying to get used to Cumbria instead of Yorkshire, now we have sheep instead of cows, mountains instead of flat fields and the Yorkshire Dales and beers with strange names instead of Tetleys but Cumbria will be our base for all our planned adventures.
Now residing close to Ulverston and of a sImilar age to you so hopefully we may well meet, it could interesting.

Will remember that advice regarding January and snow as we were thinking of doing Norway and Sweden next October and the weather could be very similar to your experience - must check the heating system works OK.
