Heading into Edinburgh for the day . Anyone know where we can park , then use public transport . Entering Edinburgh from the east side of Scotland and heading in the direction of Glasgow.

not long enough
the showground is by the airport (west side of Edinburgh)

I presume you are going in for the fringe rather than just as tourists looking at Edinburgh, expect the place to be rammed

Great atmosphere though, a must do for everybody at some point in their lives (y)

Ingliston park and ride fine for Motorhomes, follow signposting from airport turnoff. Free bus into city centre but no overnighting allowed.

Festival and fringe activity in full flow, city is packed and the sun is shining, you will have a ball!

Get off at Waverley station and take a walk through the gardens below the castle or walk up to the "old town", lots to see and do.

Might be to late but if you turn off the Edinburgh By pass on to the A702 and head for Biggar and you can park on the roadside next to the Ski slope, busses run every 10mins. Or when you come off the by pass on to the A702 head for Edinburgh and once through the set of traffic lights just park there it's free all day and busses all day.

On and off for many years.
You can also park in the IKEA (at Straighton, just off the A720 city bypass) car park all day if you ask nicely and also have a drink or meal in their restaurant. Some store managers even allow you to park (but not camp!) overnight.

The P&R near the airport is the one for motorhomes, the others have height barriers. Free to park last time I was there but a charge for the bus / tram to the centre. Get an all day ticket if you don't have a Scottish Bus Pass. There is no reciprocal agreement for bus passes :(

If you don't have a Scottish bus pass it's worth paying £4 for an all day tram and bus ticket. You can go all over the city with that. There's a tram stop by the Ingliston park and ride and it is by far the fastest way of getting into the city. Enjoy! Mags

And if you don't want to be that near Edinburgh there is parking at Tweedbank station (free) and the new(ish) Borders Railway into the centre. - takes about an hour each way but the scenery is well worth the trip.

Totally agree, both on the ticket and the tram. We found that when we were staying at Dalkeith a couple of weeks ago.
