Just reading some of the paper work about the new motorhome we are about to buy and it says the road tax for a vehicle upto 3.5tonnes is £235 annually but a heavier vehicle over 3.5 tonnes is £165 annually. How does that work?.

Because a heavier van is classed as a private heavy goods vehicle....a truck/lorry/wagon.
The cost hasn't risen for years.

The MOT is the same as a car....Class IV...even if it weighs 20000kg
Speed limits are for a truck
Licence is for a light truck 7500kg. C1
