Since 2005! 2000+ nights so far...
Our trip planning for 2017 has come up with some non movable dates :( And Scandinavia is on the list, maybe 6-8 weeks, but can't do it until end August..... So say Sept/Oct. Want to hit the arctic circle, not beyond

Van has heating so not worried about cold, but when does it become too cold/wet/snowy/dark to be enjoyable?

End of August/beg Sept is fine - good time of the year and the cold nights kill the mozzies - October is OK - of course - depending on weather system at the time but can be excellent time of the year to visit -

I used to go up from the second week of July until the end of August fishing. It depends whereabouts you intend spending most time. You can have snow in late September and early October. To give you some idea these photos were taken end of July on the circle. There is snow and ice about that never melts on high ground.

not long enough
I was advised by a Norwegian resident that we should be heading south from Nord Kapp by early October, certainly not still heading up to it, that is a good few miles further north than the Arctic Circle but sounds good advice

We are looking to go up in September next year, setting off late August, heading back down through the circle by end of September latest

This is from a weather site showing average temps for September for Tromso airport

Eeek!

@activecampers have you completed (got into a useable state) your new camper? Hope all is good.

All finished :) Finished a month ago - and 10 nights away so far. There is a YouTube video of it that I uploaded a couple of week ago and that's had 13,000 views!!!!!! It has diesel heating, and in such a small space that is more than enough. Gas easily lasts 2-3 months.

We'd probably head out end aug/early sept, and hence at the circle 20-25 Sept then head back - so the above info seems to suggest its possible, and perhaps we can get there quick and back slow.

So doable....! :)

Thanks all

@Snowbird , where was the photo taken, ?

If you mean the last one standing on the line. It was in the Santa village at Rovaniemi, Finland. The other two were taken at the Arctic Circle visitor centre.

If you google " Our Bumble " there's a terrific blog from a couple doing Scandinavia, the arctic circle and the baltics. Loads of info.

On and off for many years.
Jealous, jealous, jealous ......... maybe in 2018 or 2019 as we already have advanced plans for 2017 - but it all hinges on the DVLA and my license.
