WANTED Aire Reims/Metz (1 Viewer)

We need a good *known* overnight stop for a few vans between Reims and Metz.

There is an Aire in Metz itself, room for 10 vans, near to the river.

Not sure if this is of any help but there is a small aire in Reims not sure of address it is next to the park and the river(?) where the barges park up

If you google.............Express by Holiday Inn Reims ‎ -left side of road (you can use the street walker ) have added a pic no facilities but minutes from the centre

Is that the one in the "All the Aires" book - you go in a youth centre to open the barrier ?

"All the Aires" - Pah ! A load of them are single line entries.

All the Vicarious book say of Metz is "parking by swimming pool", is it that one ?

Due to its convenient location for Metz centre its very popular, even out of season so arrive early for a chance of a space. If the aire is full you can park in the adjacent carpark. Metz is a lovely city well worth a visit.

There is free wifi available from the campsite next to the aire. The transmitter is in a small cabin next to the aire and so the signal should be very good. There are also free internet enabled Mac computers in the cabin. You will need a log-in password from the campsite office. Wifi is available free all over Metz.
The campsite does a special rate for MHs which includes electricity and, when the aire is full, is worth looking at. The aire is unshaded and can be very hot.

Just checked with the book yes that is it, although we were there in July and on a w/e we didnt notice a barrier

Can reccomend the aire at riems, stayed there two weeks ago.
No barrier to worry about unless you approach from the wrong-end.
The 'right-end' has the aire sign.

Might be worth considering Aire de Les Illettes from CC Infos. (Dept 55 aire number 10) Just north of the road from Reims to Metz. It looks very quiet and peaceful. Private aire so there is a €5 per night charge. Not been there myself and looks as if a satnav might help to find it.

Following an earlier reply, as well as the aire at Pont-a-Mousson (which was full when we called in Sept) there is one at Millery a bit further south and right next to the Moselle. Room for about 10 vans I would say - limited services. Coords are 48.81548N, 6.12729E

Thanks for that but I've just looked at the route, it's really too close to Calais. It's needs to be Metz.

That looks like the one. Three options, we should be well covered.

Got it on Google Earth, looks excellent, certainly a good excuse for sampling some Moselle right on the banks :thumb:

Thanks, that would be nice on our own but the central Metz one keeps us nearer our route for a few travelling together.
