Have you got Fiamma awning wall brackets fitted.
If so where abouts on the wall of the MH are the brackets fitted ie is the awning support
leg at an angle or does it fit at a 90 degrees to the MH external wall ?
Any photos would be appreciated.
I am thinking of fitting a pair to our MH but can not visualise where they would fit.
Thanks Mike

I saw them fitted to a French van last year in Spain. The wind got up and just yanked the legs clamp from the van. Not very pretty after. If installed as Techno suggests it will only be the bracket that gives way in a blow and then the legs will sign off on the van wall.

If you let the awning leg dangle in the breeze (or no breeze) that will show you the fore and aft position for the leg, the vertical position should be as low down as possible.

In practice you can get away with a good 100mm either way out of plumb

Andy, where did you get your brackets for the Omnistor from please? Mine did not come with any and I fancy fitting some.

PS to OP - sorry to hijack your thread a bit.
C'mon Peter you know I buy everything off ebay

I am thinking of fitting Fiamma awning leg wall brackets for 2 reasons

Slightly less chance of our dog wrapping his lead round the legs and strangling himself
Awning still available when parked on M20 or similar

Apart from the obvious prob of finding somewhere sturdy enough for the fixings any advice or pitfalls would be gratefully received.

TIA

Don't fit them on a locker door.. like the previous owner of our van did .. one on the garage door, other on the gas locker door..

Frankly I don't see the benefit , when my awing is out I want it tied down with straps.. not held by two flimsy plastic wall brackets.. an unexpected gust could have them off and awing over the roof..

Just fit them perpendicular to the ends of the awning.
Very stable, out of the way of dogs and the triangle they make is a much stronger set up than vertical legs. The straps make an extra triangle if you need it, but I always wind it in if a slightest threat of wind.

I was warned against them, having thought they looked a good idea. I was told they would damage the bodywork...

Think carefully before you go ahead. Most walls are not strong enough unless there are factory fitted strengthened points.

Absolutely Peter and it's got nothing to do with strapping it down like you're camping for a week and leaving it unsupervised, I would never advocate that scenario. It's for when you just want the awning half way out for a bit of shade in certain circumstances. Keep it real

I would add that it is actually impossible to fully wind out an awning and secure it to the wall, the geometry is obscene

Here at Abbey wood CC it is quite blustery and despite being on grass the edge of my pitch slopes up steeply like from a bunker on a golf course and it is rock hard
My wall leg brackets are rock solid as per my thread on fitting
These allow my 2.75metre awning out to approx 2 metres and made solid with the awning rafter
It takes me only a couple of minutes to put it away but I have no fear of a disaster.
The rafter is only used to prevent the wind bouncing the awning up and down by locking it out and not for the purpose of supporting the canvas

Thanks Andy. Trouble is I want them in grey or black (fussy I know).
Sorry for late response, but our ate aluminium in Silver/Grey Fiamma parts.

A lot more money than the plastic ones but I wanted grey as well.

You're not here I don't have steel pegs and a lump hammer. The grass is a deception with 1" thick soil.
If you don't have wall brackets YOU simply have no choice whilst I do

The guy opposite spent 25 minutes putting his awning out and drilling holes
I put mine out in two minutes and put it away again after dinner :p

been on lots of Spanish sites where the ground is like iron .... so always carry a 2lb lump hammer and steel rock pegs .. 6" nails are also useful for pegging out awnings ..

I also have awning wall brackets (fitted by the previous owner) which I have never found a need for.. I tried them out, then thought.. why would I need these ?

So have all bases covered.. which you don't ... :D :moon2::restmycase:
