Hi can anyone recommend routes/stopovers/sites en route from Santander to Lagos(Algarve)?
We have only 3weeks last week in September first two weeks in October. We would like our return journey to cover the west coast. We havnt wild camped before but a did a similar trip last year through Spain & France but pre booked all our sites. We would welcome any help or advice anyone can offer.
Many Thanks Josie.

Buy the All the Aires book for France and the same for Portugal and Spain from Vicarious Books, they will save a lot of money on campsite fees. A good one we stay at is Torquemada in Spain, free to stay, free water and dump point. Lovely restaurants in town, two minute walk away, and if you dare a money in the slot weighbridge, to see if you are within your weight limit, just 50 or so yards up the road from the aire.

Have a good trip.

Hi, we have just returned from Portugal, we don't wild camp but use sites that accept the ACSI card, sites in Portugal were not expensive and the use of facilities suits us. English is spoken almost everywhere and we found the people very helpful. We never pre book sites and have never been turned away from any site. I would not suggest a Route as it is easy to get around and you should go where YOU want, the west coast is beautiful with gorgeous beaches.
One site I would definitely go to near Lagos is Camping Tourismo, probably the best in Portugal with the bus stop to Lagos outside. The best thing of motorhoming is making it up as you go along.

The motorway toll system was surprisingly simple. Drive up to a number plate scanner, put in CC. It issued you a receipt and that's it.

We used the motorway twice in April and still have not been charged. Great system.

We ve not long returned from south and west coast.

We used camper contact, camping car infos and ACSI.

Our favourite stop was Foz de Arelho 3 euros a night for beachside with great views.

lots of great places though.

Bu t there was also lots of lovely beach stops - some of them you need to decide whether your authorised or not or prepared to take the chance but we had no problems.

We stopped at the tourismo acsi at Lagos, excellent facilites but a bit remote, we were really glad of the scooter.

Here's another one for you to look at in Portugal.

It's supposed to be for the VDub mob but there's nothing to stop you using the wilding sites but it also shows a few Aires in both Spain and Portugal;
Enjoy your trip.
