Anyone any recommendations for somewhere to stop near Madrid ?
Happy to catch train in for the day so somewhere outside of Madrid would be great. Many thanks

We stayed 5 days in a car park (no charge) which we had been recommended by a few Spanish motorhomers. Found it completely safe and regularly patrolled by local police. Basically treat as an Aire. No services at all so arrive full of water and emoty of toilet. Many motorhomes use it for stopovers and for parking for the local motorhomers. (The area is not the prettiest but you are only parking there for the night.)

Suburb is called Valdebernardo and we caught the metro into the centre - 20 mins -every day. (Station is about 500metres away and clearly signed.)

N40 23' 47" W3 37' 10".

Loved Madrid! Wide open avnues mean that the throngs of visitors are not overhelming. Lots to see!

Another vote for Aranjeuz

Train station around half an hour walk and cost 4E to get into Madrid

Takes around 40 minutes right into the centre (y)

It's a nice walk through the park into the town of Aranjeuz.

The royal palaces are meant to be a worth while visit

@sciac2001
Many thanks for the info
Can I ask When was you there ?

We were there this past May. Its a big carpark and there were bags of spaces. Most cars park across the way where there is a commercial centre - not much of a commercial centre but it has a well atocked foodstore.
As I say, in effect, we had a 5-day citybreak for free.
There is also an Aire in the suburb of Pinto, but like Aranjuez - a place to visit in its own right - you need to catch the train. The metro in my opinion is much more flexible as you can stop at any if the stops right in the middle of it all. You will need at least 3 days to properly visit Madrid.

Seems really close to the centre of Madrid
And this half of Tosan is a terrible back seat driver !
