Hi on a grand tour of Scotlqnd last year we stayed at Linwater Caravan and Camping site, a real beauty, good, clean, well managed site and £19 a night, though that was September, might be more in the school hols. Gary

Since 2008 after caravanning for 20 years
Caravan Club at Silverknowes is the one we use 3 or 4 times a year. Have used Mortonhall as well. Easy access to city centre on Edinburgh's excellent bus services.

Plus 1 for Linwater. Very clean site with great wardens. Pretty handy for park 'n' ride into Edinburgh by tram. Can't remember which P n R it is (but can get there from site!), but site staff will give you the info. Also some nice walks from site .

We will be returning there in October for a few days, we didn't even think about booking anywhere else..

I'm a newbie
Mortonhall gets my vote. I've only camped there, but it's a nice site with on-site pub, good facilities, and is right on a bus route into Edinburgh so easy to pop in and out. We've used it 2-3 times for the Edinburgh Festival.
