Not due to go for a few weeks, but wondered at the mo is there the same amount of delay time for the chunnel and are the delays affecting the road that leads to eurotunnel ? Have no sense of geography so the approach may be completely different.

It's fully accepted that this massive delay to Dover will be cleared in the next day or two. Apparently it's now down to around an hour. However, nothing has been mentioned about Folkestone so in that respect one can only assume that the train is not affected in any way.

Had one for 5 years many moons ago. Now starting again.
From Eurotunnel website traffic info just now:

Folkestone terminal:
Our passenger service is currently operating with some timetable disruption, this is due to high volume of traffic. There is a waiting time of approximately 30 minutes before check in and 60 minutes on the terminal.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this will cause to your journey.

Very good information. However it's very acceptable in comparison to Dover

Its not the train you have to worry about its getting to the tunnel by road..BUSBY.

From a personal perspective, in the light of recent disruptions it would be handy if this thread could be kept going, with any updates from Funsters travelling through the tunnel during the peak summer season.

We are due to go through from Folkestone to Calais a week tomorrow. We're obviously hoping things will be more or less back to normal - but this time last year we had quite a few delays both ways. On the roads and at the tunnel. :(

Plan A was to go to Dover Prom this evening and then saunter to the Chunnel for 0750. Now staying at home and leaving at 0400hr tomorrow morning. Highways England saying M20 is fine but road from Folkestone to Dover is not worth it and stick to A2 if heading for Dover. Fingers crossed the chunnel will sort itself out by morning.

They tend to sometimes put that message out in anticipation of delays rather than when they actually have any. The delays don't always materialise.

I've seen it several times when we've been travelling and ended up on an earlier train rather than being delayed

For more accurate information, the highways agency or local Kent Police.

Is that not the same motorway they were all queuing on yesterday,,i.e.The M20,,,BUSBY.

the funster I know about was stuck on the A20, I am not sure exactly which roads are which round there, but I think the M20 is really for the tunnel, not Dover, but not used a ferry for over 20 years

The M20 becomes the A20 after Folkestone.
The delays shown in the media photos were between Folkestone and Dover i.e. the A20. I doubt if those delays would stretch back onto the motorway where the tunnel slip road is.

They have three weeks to sort the mess out before we go through the tunnel.

Richard.

Catching the 0750 and about to leave on time. Queue once through initial check as car park was full - issue sorted now. French passport check involved a nonchalant nod as we waved our passports as per usual. Brits checked both passports

Which is exactly what usually happens and has done for as long as I can remember.
So, what is the point in all the shenanigans in Dover.
Are they saying that there is more risk of terrorists using the ferries than the tunnel?
Or are the French just being awkward and bloody minded?

Richard.
