Does anybody have details of the best route as per the title?

We want to visit our son who is working in Maranello and rather than fly, we are thinking of taking the van. We only have 8 days available..

Any help gratefully received

If it's speed you want then I would use the French toll motorways

Calais - Reims - Dijon - Chamonix- Mont Blanc Tunnel - Milan - Bologna

There is an alternative route across Switzerland from Basel to Lugano and then onto Milan which is pretty similar in terms of distance, time and cost.

Really.... damn, it only looked like abot 15 hours worth of driving from Maranello to Calais

It probably is in total if you take the quickest route.

That would still be 2-3 days for me in the motor home though. It might not be so bad if you have more than one driver.

I'd have said 3 days minimum, even with an early arrival in Calais. Our first stop would be Metz, then somewhere in Switzerland, then maybe get to Bologna late on the third day.

If you go the Google Maps recommended way the Gotthard Tunnel toll is included in your Swiss motorway vignette. Mont Blanc tunnel in a MH is quite costly.

Me too, a very demanding two day drive at best. Even three's a bit much if I'm honest !

Comfortable 2 day drive, first night spent south of Frankfurt, second day drive via Austria and onto Bologna and that was in a Toyota Yaris with one driver.
