We're off tomorrow.

El Brato is being delivered to school tomorrow morning and is off to a different continent for a month.

We're making the most of it and are heading off literally minutes after we get rid of him.

We'll be getting the boring UK bit of the trip out of the way and staying at Canterbury. The tunnel is booked for Saturday morning and we'll heading for Chamonix as a starting point.

I'll keep posting as we go. There will be food pictures (y)

The tunnel this morning was as busy as I've ever seen it, a combination of school holidays and extra security though. It took us 45 minutes from leaving the motorway to checking in and they were quoting all sorts of delays. In the end though we were only about 10 minutes late leaving.

We're parked up at Arrigny - Port de Chantecoq aire for the night which is huge and packed. The sun is shining and it's about 28 degrees.

Dinner tonight is consisting of things I found in the freezer before we left so I'm not posting pictures of that!

Carrying on to Chamonix tomorrow so will post again then.

Have a good trip Nick(y)

If you see a fat bloke at Garda in a group of 7 it might be me.

Just approach and say " Hi Chris , you fat bastard"

Most of my friends address me in this way , these days.

Was a newbie, now a Middie.
Try not to die in your sleep Nick. It can put a real damper on the holiday for a few days. (y) Anyway, enjoy. :)

After the beer last night we took the dogs back to the van and went in search of food.

This is not a difficult task here. (y)

Duck breast with Blueberries cooked properly i.e. so rare it was still quacking (y)

Chicken in a morel and wine sauce with potato gratin.

Been for a wander today, had a few more beers but it's hotter than yesterday so retired to the van for a siesta. We're just contemplating getting ready and heading out again.

Pictures from today are on my real camera and like a twat I've not brought a card reader with me. Will have to buy one at some point.

Moved on today and after a pig of a journey starting with an hour from Chamonix to the tunnel toll booths we finally made it to Peschiera del Garda and are firmly ensconced on a great pitch at Camping Cappucini. Front row nearest the lake, about 50 yards from the water and slightly less from the bar.

The dogs have been for a swim and I've had a couple of Spritz Aperols (y)

Dinner tonight is burger and chips from the beach bar.

The last couple of days have pretty much gone to plan; wander around in the morning, back for a spot of lunch in the van, couple of hours in the water with the dogs, a drink or 3 in the beach bar and then shower and head out in search of food.

Dinner last night was at a restaurant along the road on the lake shore.
I remembered to take photos of everything this time

View from the table

Bread and drinks to get going, Spritz Aperol for me and pineapple juice for her ladyship.

We started with perfectly grilled octopus which was big enough to be a main (me) and courgette, tomatoes and Mozzerella (her)

Mains were fillet of beef in an Amarone sauce for me and a bloody great rib-eye steak on the bone for Madame. We shared some grilled vegetables and some of the best chips I've ever had.

All washed down with a bottle of Venecian red and a bottle of water

Deserts were "White Chocolate Salami" and meringue cake. I had a glass of Soave to finish off

All very good.

We're off to our favourite place from last year tonight so expecting great things (y):D

Christ you pair can put away the food:Eeek:

I think that starter of yours would have been enough for me.

As soon as I hit 45-46 my appetite for food went right down.

I put on weight though because my appetite for beer went up.

Carry on having a great time.

120 Euros by the way.

We moved on to Lake Iseo yesterday to the lovely little Camping Iseo site. We were a couple of hours earlier than the booking form said we could arrive but the really friendly and helpful people let us in anyway, showed us a choice of pitches and even brought a super long hose to the pitch to fill us with water.

It's a small site right I the lake shore and seems to be very popular with Dutch people.

We didn't do much yesterday apart from lie in the sun, have a stroll into town (less than 10 mins) to find the supermarket and then had a BBQ.

There's a nice breeze coming from the lake this morning which makes it very pleasant.
