Off to France in the morning but on checking the under attached spare wheel on my 2012 Autocruise Rhythm discovered that the release bolt has been covered and glued over by the slot-in table mounting fitting. Any help please friends.

If the spare wheel is in the same place as mine which is under the van right at the back end then it is released from the outside using part of the wheel brace. I don't see how anything would affect that. Unless yours is in a different place

I believe there was a recall of some of the earlier X250 vans concerning the underslung wheel fitting.

Have you looked in the book to see how you lower the spare wheel, the picture of the wheel shows the end of the cable that lowers the wheel. The table socket has nothing to do with it.
The spare wheel is lowered from the outside and was one of the first things that I did when I got my 2012 van just to see how to do it.
Note. Even Autosleeper would not be that stupid.

Have a look around underneath there should be a winding nut. There somewhere probably attached to a cable.

I am sure Andy ( @Techno ) fitted a spare wheel carrier that was exactly as you describe Alan :)

I hope you are right. There was no fiat handbook with this van just an Autocruise manual which does not cover the spare wheel release. I am carrying 3 large screwdrivers to help remove the table pole cover plate just in case.

thanks all for your replies.

Have checked but found no sign of a winding nut. I did wonder why the table post fitting was off centre and it is directly over the spare wheel centre. Anyway off to Portsmouth now so wish me luck.

It looks like a spring loaded push in fixing bolt... I believe you push in and turn the bolt off of its spigot fixing..?

Edit... A bit like pushing in a bayonet light bulb

If it's a wind down unit the winder access is usually in the rear wheel arch and it needs a dedicated 5 sided winding attachment

As @Techno said. The tool should be in the toolbox under the passenger seat. If the recall mod was done there should be 2 different bars in there and the black one should fit.

the pictures show the normal "hook" for the sparewheel carrier the winder should be under the van just behind the rear wheel on the drivers side looks like this you use the bar and the ratchet for the jack to let it down
