Toilet Fluid (1 Viewer)

We are travelling around Eastern Europe and are getting low on toilet fluid, has anyone got any suggestions for an alternative until we manage to purchase some blu.

Hi . I've heard of folk using fabric conditioning tablets from the likes of Lidl.

We use liquid laundry stuff exclusively. Not fabric conditioner, what you want is the liquid you wash clothes in. Ideally it should have BIO written on it but mostly it doesn't in Europe but it is almost all biological even if it doesn't say so. I use about half a capful.

But more importantly, where are you in Eastern Europe, where are you going and where have you been? We need pictures and reports! You can't go anywhere interesting and not tell us about it. Your namesake's lover went quite a long way east, reaching Moscow although his timing and weather forecasting skills let him down. I'm sure you won't make the same mistake though it is unlikely Tolstoy will write a book about your travels - so you will have to write it up yourself - here.

Chemical additives for the cassette are totally unnecessary (in my opinion) ... we always have a SOG, or similar, so I haven't used any chemicals for many years now, just empty & rinse well most days with no problems ..... convenient ('scuse the pun) and saves cash.

Our toilet has a separate flushing tank so we add a good squirt of Fairy washing up liquid to each 2 litre bottle of water as we fill up the tank. No problems with smells (other than the scent of the Fairy Liquid) and the cassette is always clean when we empty it every other day.

Any cheap supermarket own brand Bio washing liquid will be OK. They all work we have used fabric conditioner too.

We use the bio washing tabs from aldi cheap as chips and leaves it lovely and clean but in hot weather empty each day!

We've used aquakem for years (as that is what I thought you're supposed to use) but after recommendations from this forum have recently moved to bio washing liquid. We got the cheapo stuff from aldi and it seems to do the trick a treat. It's less messy, less smelly, much cheaper and easily available.

Can I add that we use, in addition to fabric conditioner, a strong solution of 'Pink' in a spray bottle to coat the bowl after use. (We don't have a seperate tank)
It helps in reducing the smells.

Not sure how far east you are but here in Bulgaria most of the local own brands will be labelled in Cyrillic so not easily understood by foreigners, however the convention here is that bio product will have a green bottle cap and non bio will be blue or red. In Lidl you should look for Formil Activ with blue cap - hope this helps.

Never use it and dont have a SOG either. The easiest way to make disposal of the cassette easy is to not put toilet paper in it and use the Greek method.

The Greek method is to put the toilet roll into a bag and dispose of it that way.

I however never use toilet roll as its unhygienic and bad for the environment, so have converted my sink unit to take my home made shataff. Which also doubles as a shower if I dont feel like swinging the slightly cumbersome Carado T132 shower unit around in the bathroom.
