Today, just because I could, I fuelled up the van, filled the water tanks, emptied the grey tank, the loo is half full, added my weekly shopping and drove to the local weighbridge.

Weighed in at 3480Kgs, with just me onboard. Good job I'm a solo traveller but I may still have to decide between water or beer :)

Well worth the £12 I paid.

Did you check both axles ? It is very easy to be just under max weight yet over weight on one of the axles.

Convert to hydrogen running and vehicle is lighter when a full tank than when on empty.

You may smile Tonka but I have experienced that. Many years back when I used a plain VW wit a mattress thrown in the back. I had developed a taste for a certain Cava that only seemed to be distributed through one Spanish supermercados chain. So after docking in Bilbao I visited a large branch and in my worst Spanish I explained to the manager that I would return in 15 weeks and could he supply me with 20+ cases of said Cava. He came to my van and collected a sizeable deposit. On due date I turned up and all the cases where 'shrink wrapped' on a custom made pallet that fitted the VW floor pan, stacked no taller than the side door and after a bit of tidying of the van a forklift driver parked my load and I strapped it down. Now only customs at Portsmouth to deal with now :)

buy a trailer and put all the heavy bits in it even a water hook up if you want to then all is legal again, the limits on these vans are not at all logical especially when the licence at 70 comes in, same weight but spread out on more wheels???????????????? just because you aren't fit enough to push it along the road .
