We have not been for 3 or 4 years but I can confirm its still a great country to visit.
Its cheap, a pint of excellent beer is still around 50p even though the £ is down.
A good meal out for two can easily be had for less than a tenner.
The weather at this time of year is as hot as the hobs of hell.
Fuel is as cheap as chips.
As long as you dont require a new hire car, you can get a rent a wreck for less than £100 a week.
The locals love the Brits and we are welcome everywhere even now we are not in the EU.
The beaches are spotless and all tourist areas are clean.
Its relatively safe from terrorism as its close to uncle Vlad who everyone knows will stand no truck with them.
There is some very interesting modes of transport running around to keep the petrol heads interested.
Will post some photos in the next day or two if it gets cool enough to venture out.

Am going to have a look round the local motorcycle museum today. The revues on trip adviser are not brilliant but that could be because the Bulgarians and Russians see most of the stuff being used on a daily basis.

For those interested in weather statistics here is the year round averages. Of course many would not want to be here in the winter months unless you were into skiing, which am told is very good up in Bansko.
April until October is warm with June until September being the hottest.

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
Sounds great. Probably just our cup of tea.
But as we've not even ventured to France yet (in a Motorhome ) I think we will start there . Next year , Infact.
Plus although we've been to the Greek islands , many a time by plane, Bulgaria looks a bit too close to troubled lands. For me at the moment the way things are. It must take ages to get there by Motorhome. What an adventure.

We are not here with the motorhome, we have an apartment here overlooking the Black sea. We did have 2 but sold 1 a couple of years ago to a nice Russian couple. We have decided to sell the other one now as we are not using it much due mainly to health issues as we find we can no longer stand the heat.
To give some idea of land and housing costs here, a plot of land big enough for self sufficiency within a couple of miles from the coast will set you back around 5000 Euros. A liveable doer upper house in the country can be had for around 15000 Euros. A small apartment in a coastal resort around 25000 Euros, and if you want a luxury 2 bed, 2 bath apartment overlooking the pool and within 100 yards of the beach and marina, with sea views, fully furnished with air conditioning and ready to move into, you can have ours for 55000 Euros. That would be a saving of 5500 Euros as estate agents here charge 10% on top of the asking price.

Never done Bulgaria in M/H but if you want to go and put up with what they don't have then you will have a great time (y)(y)(y)-they give tourists the best of what they got (y)(y)Really friendly people who try hard and appreciate the fact that you chose to spend your money with them (y)
On the other hand if you want to go and moan about lack of a few things that they don't have then you will have plenty to moan about so prob not the place for you :)PERSONALLY I would go and have a very good time (y)

You are right Terry, once out of the tourist areas life is very basic but also very, very cheap. In tourist areas such as Sveti Vlas all modern luxuries are to be had. The marina across the road from us is full of luxury motor cruisers and could easily be mistaken for St Tropez with bars and restaurants to match. Sitting at night on our balcony watching some of the exotic cars drive up and down the road followed by the 4X4 full of minders is a sight to behold as they go down to the marina for dinner. In a period of an hour I saw 2 Bugatti Veyrons and countless Ferrari. There is obviously a lot of wealth here, but unfortunately its held by only a few. In the days of Communism the Black sea resorts were the playground of the generals and party leaders. Now they are the playground of the nouveau riche Russians who are afraid to flaunt there wealth back home.
