When i last cleaned the shower head i noticed some lime scale build-up so as i am home for two weeks i thought i might do some of those little jobs that get put off. One of them being flush out the water system. hot & cold. As my heater comes out in 5 mins its easier to take it out than do fitted. I was quiet surprised at the amount of lime scale that came out.

Did you actually descale it with say citric acid, or just wash out the lumps?

washed out the worse then filled with flush and left for an hour then flused again but all the scale in the pics was just the first flush & back flush. Not a lot more came out after that.

When you say "filled with flush" do you mean some sort of descaler? The reason I'm asking is there will be a lot of scale stuck to the surfaces inside and they won't simply wash out. A descaler will dissolve them so they come out in solution and not as actual hard bits.

With my webasto you fill the system with a citric acid solution (you can use other things) then run the boiler for a while. I put the same mixture in our kettle and brought it to the boil - the scale just vanished! You just need to ensure it is well flushed out afterwards.

I use a weak mix of Sodium hypochlorite about 1% as this was what iused when i was working, we used it to control Legionella bacteria but it all so remove light limescaling. But as you say very importent to flush afterwards
