Newbie - just selling the caravan!!
Hello all,

Picked up my new motorhome yesterday.

Drove back the 250 miles home without a hitch. Luverlee.

On inspection this morning there are a few jobs we (she!!!) would like done. Can't really blame her. We've come from a nearly new caravan to a 54 plate Autocruise Starblazer.

I think it's been stood for a while and the roof lights have suffered around the rubbers, and do not operate very well.
Also the oven and cooker are not great. The two things my wife is very fussy about.
Obviously got the van at a reasonable price, so was thinking of changing the lot.

I am not a diy-er, so will get a man in.

Otherwise, really love the van. The perfect layout for us, and will probably keep it for quite a time.

A big job? How much are we talking?

Glad you've got your van. What about having a local oven cleaner company come to the door it would be cheaper and easier than replacing. Not sure about the hekis but someone techy will know! Good luck

many many years! since I was a kid
the lights are about £20 each for the new LED versions and it is advisable to bond them to the roof to prevent leaks. under £100 to have them done by a mobile caravan fitter

the oven and hob on the old autocruises are a bit rubbish even new. expensive to replace, but hopefully you can find one of the right dimensions. getting them professionally serviced will help if they clear the jets and burners

When you say "roof lights" are you referring to the windows in the roof or the electric lights fitted to the ceiling? I only ask because I fear the Big One has misunderstood your original post. "Roof lights" to me means the window jobbies not the illuminatingy thingamybobs and I've never found roof window jobbies at £20 a shot, even at trade prices.

Thanks Dave.

Yes , I meant the windows in the roof. What is the proper name for them?

I thought it seemed a 'jolly good price'!!
Sorry if I wasn't clear.

Who knows what the proper name is but I xcall them skylights.

I'd had thought they could be removed, cleaned and resealed rather than needing to replace them?

Hello Andy.

The van is in storage at the moment, until I sell the caravan!!!!

Looking at the paperwork it seems to be a Spinflo Caprice. The booklet is for a 2020 and 600.
Don't know which one it is.

I replaced our bathroom skylight not so long back, can't remember how much it was, but it wasn't expensive, in the £40 area I seem to recall. The biggest issue is getting the old one out, and clearing all the muck up. The new one goes in very easy, just use a good quality mastic and you are laughing.

Are the sizes of the stoves in reference to whether they have a separate oven and grill? However - Jacksons have a huge retail emporium and excellent with technical info - and a phone line - they are not just a mail order place staffed by minimum wage types, LOL

A selection here at most competitive prices
http://www.jacksonsleisure.com/cara...3-4-burner-1-2-height-caravan-hob-oven-grill/

Most likely candidate
http://www.jacksonsleisure.com/cara...price-mk3-4-burner-caravan-3-4-height-cooker/

Autocruise usually fit a model that has one electric hot plate so watch for that EDIT unless you'd prefer four gas

Thanks Techno, we use our full cooker quite a bit, looks like it was well used before we got it too, now i know what to ask for for Christmas.

Thanks everyone
Have looked on Jacksons site and they certainly do have a good selection.
I have booked the van in with a chappie who used to service my old Avondale caravan tomorrow and he is going to give it a full habitation check and look over everything else.

Will let you know the outcome.

I think you are very wise to have a habitation check as you suggest there may be a problem with roof lights. Any possible ingress of water should never be taken lightly and if the rubbers are becoming perished you have done the right thing.
Cookers and fridge-freezers for motorhomes always seem very expensive to me, so any professional service may save money if the parts are available.

Yes for Clarity
Motor home are like houses
Roofs are outside
Ceilings are inside
ergo
Roof lights = Window thingies
Ceiling Lights = Led Electrickery thingies
Please excuse the trades technical jargon(y)
