Advice - I hope to use the heating and hot water today, before I do, do I need to do anything to the boiler? I drained the freshwater tank and flushed it out, do I need to fill the tank before using the heating Do I need to do anything to the boiler; fill up wth water etc? Its a Truma boiler, thanks

Not long enough!
Probably best to read the the instructions so you understand your system.
If you don't have them, a lot are available on line.
Good luck with your new Van :)

Thanks. The manual is generic and not clear.

I think you'll find the boiler is generic, too. You should have a manual for it - probably a truma combi 4 or 6.

If you intend using hot water yes you need to put water in the system although some Truma boilers will work without for heating,as others have said previously best to consult your manual.

Before turning on the hot water heater I always briefly turn on the hot tap to check that the water flows out. This confirms that the boiler is full of water.

There are several reasons why the boiler might be empty, including a faulty one-way valve, or the frost protection valve which drains the boiler if the battery is disconnected, etc, etc. It's a simple check that might save some expensive damage.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I downloaded the manual from the Truma website. Looks like I had a drain valve open when it should be closed and there was no water coming out the taps, as there was air in the system. Sorted for now, boiler heating the water, yellow light on, let's see f it works.
