We've spent the last 6 weeks trying to duck and dive the terrible weather here in France. Yesterday appeared to be the big change to sun and heat so looking forward to our next 4 weeks. Wokeup at 2am this morning suffering and heart attack. Quick trip to Brive hospital and operation before 5 am. Feeling better but it certainly gives you a big wakeup call when it happens.

I am glad to say that medical treatment in France is second to none.

Wow, didn't expect that, did you drive yourself there, not prying but this is exactly the scenario I fear in a foreign country and to top it at a time when nobody would be around to help :(

Sounds like you got 'fairly' lucky, take it easy, hope you are OK to drive (y)

God how awful for you both. I wish you a speedy recovery. I'm sure if you need any help a shout on here will have Funsters in France rushing to you. We are coming over on Friday but sadly not as far down as Brive, shame I bet you could murder some grapes. (y)

It's a shocker when it happens, have you got someone to drive you home as I had to inform DVLA and insurance and told not to drive for about 3 weeks ?

Generally if there is not an alternate driver in your party then your recovery insurance will arrange for your vehicle to be sent back home. With you and others coming back by public transport.

If you are able to and allowed to could you not stay locally for a few more days

I guess you might want to get home now, but worth looking at all options

If you are on your way home could you maybe fly and get a family member over to drive your outfit home?

Glad it seems to have gone so well, heres hoping for a full and quick recovery (y)

Sorry it happened but you were in the right place. French health service is quick off the mark with heart attacks. My neighbour was resuscitated by the pompiers ( no wonder they're the most respected profession in France) Ambulance took him to Perigueux and he was in the operating theatre before his wife got to the hospital by car.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Take it easy.

Might it be easier to leave the motorhome in France and fly or train home?

No rush for home so will stay on the Objat aire for another two weeks. Doc says one week before driving so that's fine. He also wants to follow up my progress after a week.Fortunately we just started using a Smart Car this year. We couldn't have managed without it. My better half drives so just got on with it really. Choices weren't available for her.

The phrase 'it never rains but it pours' springs readily to mind here.

Good to know you're still here to tell us about it - take care, and take your time.
