Hi. Never stayed as we live just down the road near Wells. Site has a good reputation and when we have visited friends staying there they always give it the thumbs up. Quite expensive but immaculate with good facilities, I believe the site runs minibus transport into Glastonbury town as the site itself is out of town, near to Glastonbury Tor. Plenty to do in the area. You can go litter picking and clearing the fields of tents, wellies, sleeping bags and all sorts of smoking thingies as the Glastonbury festival will have just finished....( Next Wednesday till Sunday) There will be loads going on in Glastonbury which may or may not be your choice but It's always an interesting place to visit anyway. You can always have a walk around the Abby if that's more your line. Locally you have STREET village with it's factory outlet shops, the Somerset Levels are on your doorstep if you fancy walking or cycling with loads of wildlife to enjoy. Wells is a great place to visit with it's wonderful Cathedral, Bishops Palace, Vicars Close and Hot Fuzz tours..they filmed it here. The Mendips hills are a good contrast to the Levels and of course there are Caves at Wookey Hole and Cheddar as well as Cheddar Gorge. Loads of decent pubs around, try the Sheppy at Godney...out on the levels, weard and wonderfull! Hope you have a great time. ::bigsmile:

I sometimes stay at Avalon site which is five minutes walk from Glastonbury main street.

Visit to Wells on market day is nice. Tuesday am is Glastonbury market day.

@Viennese gave me a more reasonable site but it not within walking distance. Hopefully she sees this and lets us know. This might work out cheaper as you could park up in Glast car park for day.

There is a working farm RIGHT OPPOSITE the Avalon camp site. Just a field with geese and chickens and a lovely sheepdog called Polly.... water and elson only. 12 pounds a night.

H ave been to the old oaks quite a few times, it is spotlessly maintained and a great site, the site has a minibus calling every day, one day into wells another day to Clarks village outlet another day to Glastonbury, also evening trips into Glastonbury so you can go for a meal or the pub, it has a dog walk and is one of the best sites we have ever been to
ps. you need to book at reception for the minibus,
The toilet block is the best you will find anywhere

Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.
Have stayed there a few times, site is immaculate, shower block is fantastic, the hot & cold shower at the dog walk just about sums up how good The Old Oaks is, nice little lake to fish is a pleasant way to spend a day.
They have a small farm shop onsite.
Highly recommended.
