Q1....split braking means usually one front and diagonally opposed rear work as a pair, obviously the other pair work as well.
If you have a brake failure it only affects one pair so still have one balanced pair...one front, one rear.
Thought this system went out of favour years ago with the advent of ABS and four independant circuits.
I suppose technically you do have split braking.

Q2...is the handbrake part of the rear brake caliper or is there a handbrake drum within the disc brake.
Some handbrakes operate the caliper pistons, some have seperate shoes.
Alko use rear drum brakes so yes, the secondary (hand) brake is part of the service (foot) brake

Q3...hand brake on rear axle, or both rears if its a tag axle.

Q4....transmission brake is usually a single drum attached to the final drive prop shaft....landrover etc have them....you dont.

More recent alko axles use fiat hubs. On these the disc brake is the normal foot/ service brake. The "top hat" drum brake is the hand brake and is seperate from normal foot brake. Certainly the case on my x250 fiat.

I stand corrected.
I thought Alko still used drums.

So...the updated answer to Q2 is NO, it isnt part of the service brake
