Over exposed correction? (1 Viewer)

We went to Cardiff and our guide at the stadium took our pic, the problem was the backgroud is well over exposed..

Any suggestions as to how I can fix the balance?

Like this. You mask the area you want to work on and then the adjustments only apply to that part of the image.

I used Camera RAW (despite it not being a RAW file). It still lets you turn up the Shadows and turn down the Highlights independently. No masking required.

Black & White is useful in these instances.. it hides a multitude of sins when you have recovered a lost image.
