We are looking for a trailer to pull behind our motorhome. Ideally it will have a single axle and be braked with a maximum gross weight of 750 kg.We know absolutely nothing about trailers and would be grateful for any experiences/recommendations from forum members.

Many thanks

Florence

most uk trailers under 750kg arent braked . plus towing a smallish trailer behind a m,home is not easy . reversing small trailers can be a nightmare . as you cant see them. something like a lynton towavan can have springy lights etc to atleast give some idea of width. might even be worth finding out if there is a hgv driving school close by to you then spend a day or so with proper teachers on reversing .
its easier to reverse one like mine than a little camping trailer by far.
do some homework and i,m sure you will get help locally.

We had one behind our van and we choose the model with a door at the front as well which makes life a lot easier.

Ps if you carry bikes on the back of your van you will need a trailer with a longer a frame to avoid the trailer hitting the bikes.

Agree about reversing with a small trailer, but depending on weight when loaded and your fitness, it might be possible just to un-hitch it if and when required.

I have taken a wrong turning on occasion towing my scooter and on every occasion it has been quicker and easier to un-hitch it and re attach than try and reverse it.

I had and sold a Bateman1200v grp van trailer which did the job, not cheap though around £2000 new and difficult to find second hand.
