Yes, most fuel stations out of fuel. Usually fill up before returning home but the only station near Roscoff (Sat 21st) had long queues and restricted amount of diesel.

What route did you take, and where did you take on fuel?

This is the time we'd be thinking of going to France shortly after our MOT on Monday but alas hospital appointments keep me here for the forseeable future So I'm glad I'm not going to France just yet, reading all the strike reports and the havoc is causing. Good job for the french though they certainly stick together for their causes.

A26 through Reims, down to Dijon, Lyon, Nimes and along coast to Narbonne. Fuelled up just north of Reims then again Dijon and Nimes. Didn't see any queues at any fuel stations and no problems at all, no havoc, nothing different to usual

Sounds like we might be OK tomorrow travelling North from Narbonne to Holland.

Fingers crossed.

Hi just interested on the route you took, because I'll be going to Narbonne for August, thanks

We went there last week in two day runs, first I put in no tolls and it took us around Paris, next day I put in toll and lo and behold we went down the a 11 I think it was and it was free all the way to millau bridge and that cost us 11 euros then a bit of toll which was about 5 euro, I know I'm a bit vague on this cause I'm only posting from memory, but if you do want the exact route, Julie's got it written down somewhere.

Just driven down to Tours. Queues at all of the service stations we could see into. Motorway info signs are advising if there is no diesel at next services. Went into services, limit of 20 litres, 3 vehicles in front of us, so not too long. Most of the fuel stations we passed on N roads were closed with tape or cones. Oh and it's raining!

The French news channel said 3 refineries are being blockaded, as part of protests and strikes against employment law reforms (goggle "Loi El Khomri" if you want to know what this protest is all about).

Meanwhile place your bets - how long until the French government caves in? Last time the militants blocked refineries it lasted 17 days until a u-turn by their government.

Apparently it takes up to 5 days to restart a refinery from cold so the shortage of diesel in the North and West departments might last a while.

Monday morning 22nd May 2016. 4 out of the 8 refineries in France are blockaded. Lyon was blocked and most of the fuel stations around the Lyon area were out of diesel. This morning our local Intermache had a delivery but panic buying caused long ques. This situation is expected to get worst over the next few days.

We found a supermarket without diesel in Provence, at Forcalquier, north of Aix-en-Provence. We found fuel in the next town but there was a small queue but no rationing. Further on there was a little queue at another filling station. It may all have just been a coincidence, filling stations can run out of fuel without a strike involved. Worst case we'll just go to Italy a little earlier than planned. :)

I read somewhere that fuel stations on autoroutes will always have fuel as it is illegal to run out of fuel on the French autoroutes ??

Not sure that quite works, if you don't have enough fuel for your journey without needing to fill up then don't risk it. I feel for those who have been stranded and who need to get back to the UK, this strike seems to have created an impact very quickly.

I called at a number of garages on the way from Pau to Carcasonne this morning all without diesel. All but one suggested they were expecting a delivery this afternoon. One proprietor even joked about me getting my bike off the back of the van. I eventually got some close to Auch.

There were protests on Thursday outside the prefecture office in the centre of Pau. These culminated in the protestors hurling bags of rubbish over the office railings. Needless to say there was a large police presence.
