I read it as there being 3 price bands for Motorhomes, up to 2.5 metres, up to 8 metres & up to 10 metres.

Helpline No is Tel: 0800 066 5000

Other option is to drive up to Kyle of Lochash and cross the bridge for free.

Check their website it gives you the option to pick a MH over 6.5, 7.0 and 7.5 so should be quite straight forward

We went a couple of weeks ago could not believe how cheap it was £15 for us and the Motorhome, and it was very reasonable for the bigger vans as well.

The low cost is due to the ferry operator, CalMac, operating a Road Equivalent Tariff on most routes now, subsidised by the Scottish Government.
I'm going to Skye at the start of June, but via the bridge 'cos that's free. (y)

@Carol We came back from Stornoway to Ullapool on the new ship today, very choppy in The Minch. We just wanted to see what it was like as we always travel back from Tarbert. Single £75.00 + £18.40.

Yes I know, they explained it to us, there was also a big meeting about it there the week we crossed. We had been staying at Arisaig for a week so the Ferry worked out better, we came back across the bridge though and called in at Plockton. We loved Skye if you have not been to Waternish give it a try it's beautiful, and I believe the ex head chef from the Chimineys has opened a resturant on the see front and it's outstanding and reasonable. The fairy pools are also worth a visit. Enjoy.

I'm not sure if you can stay in the van, but there is another option, Glenelg to Kylerhea. It's very small, you drive on to an open deck, stay put, then drive off again. Glenelg would be more of a drive than Mallaig, but not as far as Kyle of Lochalsh. It's a gorgeous drive though, but includes single track roads. Google Glenelg Ferry for more info.

Yes no problem, we stayed in the van most of the crossing, our crossing was pretty rough water but to be honest it was quite enjoyable from inside the van no bother at all. Have you seen my thread Scotland April and May &500 to be honest we did much more on Skye, so more information on there, as the weather was to cold for us to do the 500 justice.

If you go around the back of Dunvagan towards the Chimneys restaurant follow the road to Neist Point and if you feel fit enough walk from the parking area down to the lighthouse, it's easy going down its the coming back that's the killer.

Hang on while I look at my watch
Keep your eyes open for celebrities on the ferry. I was stood next to Lorraine Kelly casually chatting away for 20 mins with the wife grinning from cheek to cheek at me. She knew I didn't have a clue who she was.
