Most of france literally shuts down on a Saturday afternoon apart from bakeries & flower shops until Monday morning(but still shutdown today as its whit Monday holiday) ......so a midweek shutdown too, cant beat it. Bet the flower shops will be open though.

Mainly it will be Paris and Paris area and down south my region, Midi Pyrénées and also Languedoc Roussillon (around Perpignan)

So first of all, it is not a proper strike, it is a blocus which will be operate by Lorries. So first thing to do is to fill up with diesel and LPG if you need some, as lorries won't deliver, or will not give access to any delivery.

If you need specific food, buy them early morning tomorrow.

Try to avoid péage from and to Paris, and to South West.

No info available right now, but I bet tomorrow you'll be able to know more by entering the following request in google search: Quels sont les principaux barrages des poids lourds ce 17 Mai 2016

Thanks for the warning, we're low on fuel so will decide tomorrow whether to move on or stay here at La Rohaliguen with sea views and walks along the beach.

It's a tough one mais c'est la vie!

Wouldn't worry too much about it if you're not near a main centre - they do this regularly

If it is going to affect the flights again then that will mean that in 4 months & eight flights my wife has been cancelled/delayed on 5 occasions. Fed up with the expense & keep putting in the claims to Ryanair/AEAT/UK etc.

Hi @yodeli . It says " the 17th & the 19th" but does that mean 2 seperate strikes or ,what has happened before, & its starts on 17th but finishes on the 19th ?

Oh Dear, listening to the news..... going to be a bl***y mess!

Planes trains ...strikes notices have been put on the table up to mid July!

Do fill up even if you don't think you'll be moving the next few days! It might last more than you think!

It's the "loi Travail" which is the main worry. If government insists on voting that law , hell... France won't be the best part of the world to spend hols! CALAIS CAEN LA ROCHELLE SAINT NAZAIRE will be blocked , no transports! More towns but I can't remember them all!

I never thought it would be that huge!

@gus-lopez Don't expect only 2 days... Just think it starts tomorrow, and there is no end planned!

Will try to up date here tomorrow

Thanks for the heads up @chaser and for the updates @yodeli.

Mr Stroppy is due to fly back from Cannes on Thursday. I've let him know and he's trying to get a back up plan. He's already been caught out twice this year with strikes.

That is exactly what the French people said to us on here. That's why I thought it was worth mentioning

Bloody French are always whining about something. Just another reason not to visit and take my cash to another country.

Will be travelling to Cherbourg over the next six day for a Brittany ferries sailing to Poole next Monday evening. Can anyone recommend a nice aire and / or site to get stuck on if our sailing is delayed? Will stock up with essentials tomorrow, SWMBO suggests we should get some food as well but I'm not sure about axle weights ;).

If you want a good meal before you depart try the Portsmouth hoy on the quay in poole. We've been there 3 times in the last three weeks.

Thanks Chaser and Yodeli. We're in Nozay, Pays De Loire and were planning to go a bit further south before making our way back to Calais. We're booked on the tunnel on 1st June but think we'll stock up tomorrow and start back up sooner, just in case. Would be worried but with so many Aires to use we're quite relaxed
