Absolutely true.

I take far too much in the way of tools but I would recommend some of the following:

A roll of Duct (Gaffer) Tape
Some electricians tape (different colours)
Fuses for vehicle and habitation (may be different types)
Super strength double-sided tape
Craft knife or Stanley knife
Medium sized shifter
Hammer (always fixes things)
Mole wrench (good for pulling reluctant pegs when your peg puller ain't up to the job, if nothing else ::bigsmile:)
An assortment of screws, washer, nuts and bolts (but no need to go mad - you can always shorten a bolt that's too long with...)
Junior Hacksaw
Some velcro straps
A length (three metres or so) of decent guy line or similar

No doubt I have missed somebody's favourite must have, but if you're not careful you'll end up looking like an RAC van  - then they'll all be calling for you instead of him:roflmto:.

Be a boy scout; be prepared. Sort of along the lines of a box of matches. a knife, a shilling and a piece of string (and off course the pack of woodies and a bottle of beer and a well thumbed copy of Penthouse :whatthe:)

John (an ex- Boy Scout and an ex- Seafarer ::bigsmile:)

The most useful item is the multiheaded screwdriver. It needs lots of heads cos motorhomes seem to use a multitude of different screw heads. To get at the battery on mine you need torx heads.

Also my 'fixed' bed frame recently collapsed, all the screws on one side and the bottom had come unscrewed (Vibration I suppose - I mean from the engine to forestall smutty remarks :winky:). Duct tape is great, take the clear one as well (cracked lights etc)

A range of sizes of cable ties can be used for all sorts, the big ones will serve as a temporary exhaust mount if needed. I carry lots of stuff but most has never been needed.

Spare fuses most essential, also hose clamps.

As previously mentioned whatever you need you won't have .

so true... fortunately there is a pound shop in nearly ever town where tools are cheap as chips.. albeit rubbish, but get you out of a fix..

When we left home I took just about everything I thought I would need .. . the one thing I left, or forgot about and needed when we broke down in Spain ....... Cir-clip pliers

sod's law strikes again
