Hi There Quick and simple question I’m looking for a bike cover but was wondering how these covers, cover the bike if the carrier has a bar which clamps onto the bike? Is there a slit in the back of them allowing the bar to pass through? All the pics I’ve seen does not show the bars linking the bike frame to the carrier. Not worried what make just need to get it right.

Many Thanks Tony

We had a bike rack on last m/h and had a cover with slits to accommodate 2 bikes. What a pain to get cover over bikes and securely fastened using the eyelets on the bottom of the cover. Ended up not using it, bikes got wet and went rusty. One of the reasons for changing m/h to one with garage!

I have just got one, how did you get it to fit the rack as it doesn't have holes in it for the fixing bars - do I need to get my needle and thread out of hibernation? (n)

We bought the Oxford 3 bike cover, put a slit up the middle and used Velcro. Works a treat. I use a couple of bungees over the wheels which keeps it tight.

Just noticed your post sorry - hopefully not too late.
We've just bought a 'Taylormade' cover. You can buy with none, one or two slits in the back to accommodate various bike carriers. Very robust.
Hope this helps,
John

Hi John yes you are a bit late, but ironically I bought a Taylor made one as well with slits up the back and im very pleased with it. It cost a bit more than I was expecting but I suppose you get what you pay for as they say, thanks anyway.

We have a Fiamma cover (I think). There are no slits but its elasticated in parts so "clings" to the bikes itself and can be secured by bungees through eyelets. There's also a pocket for a warning sign.
Its not the easiest thing to fit (partly as our rack is very high) and its a bit tatty now but its done stirling work for a few years.
